What is the value of ”Take Your Daughter to Work Day? We think it is education and empathy, so the child knows what the parent does daily, but it is so much more. It instills lifelong work values. Meahgan Gibson attended a “Take Your Daughter to Work Day” at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. To this day she reminds me of a few choice words I stated during a staff meeting but she also pursued a career in Leisure and Hospitality. More importantly she picked up values like; everybody is critical to success (especially the lowest paid hourly associates), every person has a story, treat people with dignity and respect, and if they have a name tag, user their name. Grow by trying new things that others shy away from. Powerful words are “thank you” and “can you help me”, and assisting others even if you do not have time. Today this was in my feed. I had no idea she was working on this. Biscuits and socks, who knew? But more importantly, a young professional (from a generation many professionals belittle) leading a project that reflects well on the brand and does good for the community. Also hats off to Dennis Pfaff, Maple Street Biscuit Company and Cracker Barrel for creating an organization culture where young professional growth occurs. Take your daughter to work and as a leader, your relationships matter more than you know. #cio #leadership
TLDR: I've been working on something pretty cool! "The Maple Street Mantra: Help People, Serve Others, Be A Part Of The Community" is why I joined the team. I'm grateful to Maple Street Biscuit Company for allowing me to take on something so near and dear to who we are. *Maple Street Silly Socks* a portion of sock sales will go directly to LifeQuest Organ Recovery Services and U.F. Health, supporting their incredible work to maximize the Gift of Life through organ and tissue donation. This is particularly meaningful because giving back has always been a big part of who I am. From working with the Miami Children's Initiative during my time at the University of Florida to my work with the Harrison County Community Foundation, I've seen firsthand the impact we can make when we come together. Your support means the world and will help create positive change in our community. P.S. The socks are pretty cool as well https://lnkd.in/gKJnfwB6

Thanks IRS... The Chronicle of Philanthropy reports: "In a potentially widespread error, the Internal Revenue Service has apparently transmitted tax return data for nonprofits that misreports organizations' finances for 2022 -- a glitch that could pose a barrier for charities seeking to secure donations or government grants." As we all know, these listings are relied upon by donors and other investors to assess a nonprofit's financial health before making a grant or gift. At this point, it's not clear how many non-profits are affected but it may be worth checking your organization's listing on Candid and ProPublica for errors. Candid appears to be working quickly to correct errors. ‘Dodgy’ Data Dump From IRS Causes Headaches for Nonprofits (philanthropy.com)

Why I Donate: Carrie and Clint Bradford "We learned about MWSF in Fall 2022 after we reconnected with family, including Clay who has MWS. We were eager to learn more about him! MWSF was one of the only resources that came up in our search. It was reassuring to learn there is a 'landing pad' out there for people living with MWS and their families - we knew we wanted to be a part of this effort. Clay is a source of light and joy to everyone who knows him. He gives the best hugs and knows every detail imaginable about Monster Jam (not to mention his personal memorabilia collection!). Clay loves with his whole heart - he makes us feel so special by recalling shared memories or thinking up fun things to do together in the future. We can’t imagine the bewilderment a family must feel when they get to an MWS diagnosis. We know that when Clay was diagnosed, MWSF served as an information-source for Clay, and connected him to a community that was out there waiting for him. We learned about the research projects that MWSF helps to support as well. In this way, it’s rewarding to be a small part of both the “here and now” of the MWSF community and also look to what the future could hold thanks to these research efforts." You can still donate to MWSF and support our mission: https://lnkd.in/gwn2WW3m #givingtuesday #seasonofgiving #donatetoday #fundraising

Smiles like these represent the magic moment a child receives the gift of clear vision. Eye Thrive is best known for our comprehensive eye exams and glasses made on-site, but what makes us truly unique is the way we step up to support our kids. Eye Thrive’s wraparound services take comprehensive continuity of care to the next level. So far this school year, Eye Thrive has conducted 8,796 vision screenings, provided 1,420 comprehensive eye exams during 44 Mobile Vision Clinic visits, and dispensed 1,933 pairs of glasses, including 394 replacements. Still, the need exists beyond what we can imagine. Our services are transformative and essential. We must continue to expand our reach and change the lives of even more kids that urgently need us. We can show up for them this school year, but not without your help. Through our wraparound services, Eye Thrive is always here for our kids, from start to finish. We hope you will consider being here for us and our kids with a donation this #GivingTuesday. Every dollar makes a real, measurable impact: eyethrive.org/donate #eyethrive #eyeseeeyecaneyethrive #morethanglasses #impact #nonprofit #stl
