Are there any private schools in Oman or the UAE who are looking for someone like me? I I am not happy in my current situation working for the UAE Charter Schools. I don't want to work for big corporation schools-monopolizers in education.
I admire schools that still use Class Dojo or who truly believe in disciplinary measures of involving parents in the classroom environment. Understanding that as some children learn best in groups, others may learn better in isolation from groups in the classroom-like having alternative seating available.
I prefer a position in administration (curriculum coordinator, pastoral roles) so that I can begin my Masters Degree in the educational sector, but okay with teaching as long as the salary allows me to rent a car, have a place to live (my own apartment), and still have enough to explore my surroundings in a relaxed environment, as well as pursue my Masters Degree at a much slower rate.
I left Oman in 2022 because my children wanted a new environment with a different culture. So, we moved to Tashkent. When my daughter turned 18, she moved back to the US and my son was still with me. Then he said he wanted to return to the GCC, so I looked for a position back in Oman, which I had found, but the school underwent a change in management, and I found myself in Ajman. My son was not happy here either, and moved back to the US to live with his eldest sister.
I don't want to "quit" the GCC, as I love it on this part of the world, but my current working environment is almost considered "toxic" and I really desire that small "private" school environment where class sizes and teacher ratios are like 15:1, or with an assistant, 24:2, where the school cares more about quality of education rather than quantity.
My CV is pretty much my LinkedIn profile, minus the school where I am currently working. I have not placed it on my profile, because I am still under probation until February, (6 months here in the UAE), and I have not been sure for a while that I want to stay here.
First, I feel as if I am riding on an educational rollercoaster. Some days I feel safe, protected and the acknowledgement of a good job is given, and other days I feel like I am failing myself and everyone around me. This positon makes me feel like I am a "newly qualified teacher" and nothing I do is good enough. We don't celebrate the many wins, we only focus on the losses. I feel I am drowning and I am not happy to come to work anymore. Teaching used to be my passion, but I feel this school is killing my spirit and love for this field.
So, if you are a different school where you offer teachers an environment where teachers are given autonomy in their 21st Century teaching methods, while still hitting benchmarks and standards, then I want to work with you. I want to feel like part of your family.
Please provide me with your contact information, so I can send you my CV.
Respectfully,
Marissa
