Although Christmas has gone beyond being a Christian celebration as many different people acknowledge the day, some people can feel excluded during this time of year. Here are our Five Top Tips on how to celebrate this time of year with EVERYONE in the office 🔽 1️⃣ Be aware of all holidays ALL YEAR round, helping to ensure no one’s beliefs go unacknowledged 2️⃣ A lot of holidays are celebrated this time of year, not just Christmas. Switching your celebrations to a “holiday” party can instantly make the occasion feel more inclusive 3️⃣ Invite everyone to be a part of the festivities, but don’t force them to be a part of them 4️⃣ When possible, make the celebrations free to take part in 5️⃣ Make sure the celebrations are accessible for all, such as ensuring the venue has wheelchair access, is easy to get to and caters for all dietary requirements 👉 For all of this to work, SPEAK WITH YOUR EMPLOYEES! Shedding stressful "Christmas Barnacles" Christmas decorations are begging to be let out of the attic, but I pretend not to notice. I think I should be feeling stressed because it is already two days into December. Yes, I know that the first Sunday of Advent is tomorrow. But what’s the point of stressing? Instead, I took time to lean back in my recliner with an Advent devotional and a cup of coffee in hand. Dear Hubbie, Barry, being more ambitious, dug out some old vinyl records from Christmas long past, to fast-forward our holiday mood to sleigh bell speed. Did I just mention stress? How many times over the years have I been the one complaining that: Christmas is so STRESSFUL!!! It’s one thing to joke about it, but deep inside, I really meant it. I always cherished the mystery and miracle of the biblical Christmas story. But the trappings and trimmings of the typical American holiday season had tarnished my Christmas joy. Multiple constraints (schedules, budgets, relational stressors) conspired to keep me from taking time to celebrate the true heart of Christmas. You could say that I had acquired a good case of Christmas barnacles during the difficult seasons of my early adult life. So, what has happened to calm this queen of holiday stress? Well, I started shedding those Christmas barnacles. And I decluttered my Christmas mindset. Are you ready to recalibrate your approach to celebrating the Christmas holidays?
