Director and Lecturer, MA in Archives & Records Management. Research interests: participatory, creative and trauma-informed approaches to recordkeeping particularly in health and social care contexts.
We have come to the end of the trauma-informed approaches module and so the focus for our last session together has been to learn from organisations that take a holistic whole-organisation approach to embedding trauma-informed principles. Debra Doggett from the Planned Environment Therapy Trust Archive provided us with a really powerful and empowering example of what can be done by demonstrating how the trauma-informed approach of the charity in which PETTA is based infuses through the archive service too. So exciting to see their approach to supervising staff; putting feelings at the centre of team discussion; prioritising reflexive practice, discussion and spaces; enabling creative and healing responses to the archive and developing trauma-informed policy and procedures for every aspect of archive work. Such an inspiring way to end the module, and so much good practice here that we can all learn from

Next week, November 28, the Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service (WIPPS) will be celebrating #GivingTuesday - a day for people around the world to come together to thank, help, give, show kindness, and share what they have with those in need. Created in 2012, GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. Over the last 11 years, this idea has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. Harnessing the power of people, organizations, and collaboration to transform and enhance communities is what we are all about at WIPPS. Since 2007, WIPPS has been committed to addressing local, state, and national issues by linking public scholarship, civic outreach, and student service to enhance community life throughout Wisconsin. We can’t do this important work without your help! Your donation to WIPPS will provide much needed support to programs that educate and engage residents of Wisconsin, develop future leaders, and help communities meet identified needs. #USA 🇺🇸: Delighted to join my fellow Evaluation Panel Reviewers for the Yield Giving Open Call & members of the Lever for Change network in sharing and amplifying the following exciting news: Today, MacKenzie Scott’s Yield Giving announced that 361 organizations are receiving $640 million for their work with people and in places experiencing the greatest need in the United States. This cohort of 361 outstanding teams from 38 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico will enable individuals and families to achieve substantive improvement in their well-being through foundational resources. These community-led, community-focused organizations work in urban and rural settings, with individuals of all ages, focusing on a wide range of issues. Yet, they share a common sense of purpose: the Open Call awardees are all making positive change in their communities by reducing disparities in economic outcomes, education, health, and other critical issues. The Open Call received 6,353 applications and initially planned for 250 awards of $1 million each. In the Fall of 2023, organizations top-rated by their peers advanced to a second round of review by an external Evaluation Panel recruited for experience relevant to this cause, and underwent a final round of due diligence. In light of the incredible work of these organizations, as judged by their peers and external panelists, the donor team decided to expand the awardee pool and the award amount. The 279 organizations in the top tier of scores will receive $2 million each, and the 82 organizations in the next tier will receive $1 million each. Congratulations to all of the awardees! For more information, read more about the awardees here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eHPYCK5v #YieldGiving #YieldGivingOpenCall #SocialImpact #philanthropy

Never stop giving back to your community. But wait, what does community service have to do with pharmacy and technology... Participating in community service is important to me, and it should be for all of us. Leading through service has taught me the invaluable lessons of empathy, teamwork, and generosity, molding me into a more compassionate and open-minded individual. These lessons have seamlessly translated into my experiences collaborating with diverse groups and utilizing digital solutions for medical outreach. What's the purpose of technology if it doesn't foster community and bring us together? Similarly, what defines a community if we can't connect and unite? Through volunteer engagements, I've witnessed firsthand how innovative technology can bridge gaps and improve lives. I am grateful for the impact that community service has left on my life. It is such a privilege to carry the stories of resilience from the communities I've had the honor to serve. Embracing community service is an integral part of pharmacy education; it not only enriches students' compassion and empathy, myself included, but it also instills a deeper understanding of patient needs and fosters our growth as more empathetic future clinicians and scientists. So yeah, it matters. Some organizations you can give to, if you're reading this post. Donate to Maui here: https://lnkd.in/g2S6PCbV Want to volunteer for medical initiatives in Los Angeles? Instead of receiving gifts for my birthday, I want to give gifts to garner donations for my Trilogy of Half Marathons to support the life saving work of Victory Programs. Here is the link to donate: https://lnkd.in/eVSyfQaC It's my birthday wish to cross the finish line of my $10,000 fundraising goal while I train for Half Marathon #3 at Baystate Marathon & Half Marathon. For everyone who donates between now and my 8/7 birthday, we will double your chances in the gift giveaway. 2/$10 donation and 6/$25 donation. On this Tuesday transformation give this Boston College Boston College - Woods College of Advancing Studies article a read to inspire you to donate: https://lnkd.in/e58xJZAn Here is what your donation dollars have helped to achieve from Executive Director Sarah Porter: "At the Boston Living Center, we have seen a substantial increase in clients seeking harm-reduction services, and we are actively working to introduce many of these new faces to the full scope of Victory Programs’ offerings. Some of our recovery programs are seeing a record number of graduating clients, and we were so pleased to recently learn one of our program graduates is now the co-manager of a new sober home in Dorchester. We launched a Recovery Coaching program for our clients headed up by a phenomenal staff member with a history of substance-use disorder. We want to be an agency that cares for people who have yet to be interested in recovery, those actively pursuing it, and those working to maintain it. And, thanks to your generosity, we just opened Marcella, a new low-threshold housing program for unhoused women. Across all of our low-threshold programs, we are seeing more residents engaged in housing searches and moving into permanent housing than ever before. We continue to scope out new locations to add to our growing portfolio of programs. Finally, we understand how difficult it is for families to secure housing in Massachusetts. Waitlists for subsidized and affordable housing can take a decade or more, and while we’ve seen a small but significant increase in housing placements in our family shelters, we hope to open new permanent, supportive housing programs specifically for families over the next year." Thank you for your generosity, kindness and compassion!

Marketing Leader, Creative at Heart, Messaging Extraordinaire | Mom of Sassiest Tiny Human | Mental Health Matters | Women’s Health Matters | Make Marketing Fun Again 🤩
It is unspeakable that women’s health is so low on society’s list that women with fame have to stand up on a podium and explain how even they couldn’t get diagnosed with endometriosis in a timeframe that allows for more positive outcomes and a reduction in medical trauma, misogyny and gaslighting. Endometriosis is not only a bad period. A bad period is not just hereditary. Endometriosis is not depression. It’s not anxiety. It causes those things but it’s not that. Endometriosis is not the endometrium. Endometriosis is not visible on imaging in most cases. Why do women all over the world have to over educate themselves on this condition and, only, when they have traumatic medical experiences with hundreds of misdiagnoses, dismissals and dangerous mistreatments. As human beings on this earth we have a right to proper care for this disease.
Just one week out from the 2024 Blossom Ball and we're flashing back to Corinne Foxx's incredible speech from last year's gala. #BlossomBall isn't just a fancy party, it's EndoFound’s annual fundraising gala which not only raises a significant amount of funds to support landmark research, advocacy and education, but also raises a ton of #endometriosis awareness! We're looking forward to sharing more impactful moments from this year's event as we recognize Bindi Irwin, Drs. Christine Metz and Peter Gregersen (The Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research - ROSE Study), and Ridhi Tariyal CEO, NextGen Jane. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gp4QnUX
