Attended the Black in Cancer Conference at The National Institutes of Health. Great discussions from mentorship to scientific seminars to outreach & education and more 🧫👩🏾🔬⚕️📚 A phenomenal presentation by Dr Melissa Davis on the work of the SAMBAI Grand Cancer Challenge Team, who are using a multidisciplinary approach to tackle health disparities with an emphasis on Africa. They are assessing cancer risk in diverse populations in the context of genetics, tumour immunology, social determinants of health and exposures. Increasing genomic data and knowledge of underrepresented populations so that no one is left behind in the fight against cancer or the personalised medicine revolution. 🧬👩🏾💻 "Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health is the most shocking and inhumane."- Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Honoured to have received a travel award and present a poster on the impact of the BiC mentorship programme.
