At today's EveryLife Foundation for Rare Diseases’s Community Congress on Regulatory Flexibility Adora Ndu proposed a new initiative to better exchange knowledge with the FDA about the science behind rare disease drug development: We need a path forward to be able to request a meeting focused on the science to discuss the difficult questions surrounding endpoints, trials design, etc. This type of knowledge exchange and cross-FDA training is currently limited at FDA. Something like a Science Focused Drug Development (SFDD) meeting could help fill the existing gaps. This would mirror the Patient-Focused Drug Development and include FDA participation. The SFDD meetings would provide an opportunity for developers, regulators, scientific and academic experts, & patient advocates to discuss rare disease drug development considerations proactively. #CCAnnualMeeting2023 #communitycongress #policy #Everylife #raredisease #washingtondc #bridgebio
