The Progressive Grocer Top Women in Grocery (TWIG) program began more than 18 years ago as a way to spotlight women in the North American food retail and grocery industries who have blazed a trail in their enterprises. TWIG is the food retail industry’s longest running program recognizing and celebrating the accomplishments and contributions of thousands of women at all levels in the industry. The 2024 award recipients were able to demonstrate the ability to serve as role models for the new generation, inspire others and work to support their local community. Congratulations to Otilia Brown, Corporate Seafood Sales Manager as being one of the 2024 Progressive Grocer Top Women in Grocery Award Recipients! Otilia’s approachability, calm and cool demeanor, and servant leadership style has allowed her to effectively direct her team through the toughest of situations with notable ease and control. She has held several positions at Big Y, including assistant department manager, Store Director and has recently transitioned over to the sales department as our Seafood Sales Manager. Her energy, commitment, vision, drive for success, professionalism, dedication to her family and focus on both her community made her very deserving of this recognition. Congratulations Otilia! Big Y Foods is pleased to announce the grand re-opening of our Family Market at 503 Memorial Ave, West Springfield, MA. The project included major renovations in many areas of the store and various new additions in response to changing customer needs. One of those additions is an expanded Hispanic Grocery section. The area features traditional ingredients and pantry staples from across Latin America including Brazil and the Caribbean. In addition to traditional ingredients and pantry staples, the Hispanic Grocery Section also features a curated selection of ready-to-eat items, such as empanadas, quesadillas and burrito bowls, a large variety of specialty meats in the butcher shop and more.
