Bescura update!    As part of our commitment to supporting charitable initiatives, Aspire has been providing funding to Bescura Family Hubb, at Port Vale Football Club, a not-for-profit organisation that supports families, children of all ages, and members of the local community of Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding areas.   The Hubb is a 'one-stop shop' where individuals can access family support, drop-in sessions, training courses, information, and advice. Our Corporate Responsibility Workstream has liaised closely with the management at Bescura to understand their needs and to ensure our support provides maximum benefit to all those who rely on their services.     Recently, Bescura shared an update on how our funding has been used so far and the impact it has had on what they can offer to the community:   - During the summer holidays, children and their parents had free access to a range of fun activities, including sensory storyteller sessions for babies and toddlers, arts and creative sessions, and a superhero morning.     - The sensory room at Bescura is an amazing space for young babies and for children and adults with additional needs, but the equipment is delicate and has a relatively short shelf life. Bescura has been able to purchase new equipment to keep this important facility functioning.     - Bescura operates a baby bank for local families, providing them with essential items and equipment to keep their babies safe and well. With over 1,000 items per month requested, Aspire’s funding has helped to maintain supplies to this critical service.     During winter, Bescura expects demand for their services to increase. One month before Christmas Eve - Badisa Christmas Campaign 2023 🎄 As the holiday season approaches, our hearts are filled with joy and anticipation. However, for many children, families, and elderly people, this time of year can be a time of loneliness and hardship. Imagine a child who does not have biological parents who can care for them, or a child who doesn't receive any treats or gifts for Christmas. This may be due to poverty, family circumstances, or other reasons. For these children, the holidays can be a time of disappointment and sadness. Our partner Charity Babyzone, is running a Winter Campaign to raise funds to continue their brilliant work and launch two new Babyzones in 2024! 👏    This Friday, to support the campaign, Will B., a BC Pioneer working with Babyzone, is attempting to complete The Arc of Attrition; the UK's hardest winter 100-mile footrace. 🏃♂️ The event circumnavigates the Cornish Coastline on the South West Coastal Path; it is notorious for the challenging terrain and inclement weather, and needs to be completed in under 36 hours, with the majority of this time spent in darkness. 🌧   You can support the campaign here 👉 https://lnkd.in/enX_DUmS All donations will be matched by another donor, meaning your support will go twice as far helping children and families! About Babyzone? 👶 - The founding team at Babyzone recognised the need in the UK for families with children aged 0-5 years to have a place to play, sing, dance, read and learn together. In a report released by UNICEF in 2022, research revealed that 2.2 million families in the UK need support for their babies and toddlers. - That is why, since 2019, we have been on a mission to increase access to early-years learning opportunities. Our families have access to over 25 free baby and toddler sensory classes a day at each of our sites. We are building the communities of Barking & Dagenham, Croydon and Barnet and welcome over 200 families a day at each of our sites. - Our family's experience: “the ability to attend a free (because as a single-income family money is non-existent) parent group that allows me access to other parents, care providers and even specialist community help and advice is amazing. But more importantly, my daughter gets to meet other adults, children and make friends of her own and enjoy being a toddler. As a 501c3 non-profit, our mission and goal is to help those in need for free, but we can’t do this without paying for resources, fundraising, and having consistent volunteers. We have a mom we’ve spoken about recently who has gone through tragedy after tragedy, and we need more resources to help her. To help any mom through a 9-month pregnancy, through early postpartum, through raising a newborn and ensuring she has diapers, wipes, breastfeeding support, mental health support, and above all, a safe place to sleep at night. Love-based support is essential for each of us, from the first steps to the whole journey through life. Especially, during challenges or difficult times that come into our lives sometimes gradually and sometimes rapidly. As a mother of four children myself, I can confirm that isolation is real. As parents or caregivers, I believe that we should teach our children as early as possible that emotions are real. Thus, they will be able to identify and express their feelings and ask for support as needed. Would love to see more curricula centered on parenting, communication, leadership, emotions, etc. which all could be linked to history, science, math, or language classes.
