Being enrolled in the COC (Certified Out-Patient) program through AAPC, and working in Mental Health and Substance Abuse, I see codes that are not generally used in the industry! Here's some interesting information I found. Reflecting on the FDA advisory panel's recent decision regarding Lyko's MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD, I feel both disappointment and renewed determination. This decision underscores the urgent need for greater education and equitable access to these promising treatments. Despite setbacks, psychedelic research is advancing rapidly. We are on the verge of FDA approval for groundbreaking psychedelic therapeutics that can transform mental health care. Yesterday KittyHawk portfolio company, MAPS Public Benefit Corporation, a company dedicated to changing the way mental health conditions are treated, announced the submission of a new drug application (“NDA”) to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for MDMA used in combination with psychological intervention. This investigational MDMA-assisted therapy is in development for individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (“PTSD”) and if approved, would be the first psychedelic-assisted therapy approved for PTSD. “The filing of our NDA is the culmination of more than 30 years of clinical research, advocacy, collaboration and dedication to bring a potential new option to adults living with PTSD, a patient group that has experienced little innovation in decades,” said Amy Emerson, chief executive officer, MAPS PBC. “If approved, MDMA-assisted therapy would be the first psychedelic-assisted therapy, which we hope will drive additional investment into new research in mental health.” KittyHawk is honored and excited to be investors in MAPS' Series A. We think this will not only be an amazing investment, but a company that will help heal so many people. Digital mental health tools could be a game changer for patients who do not respond to current treatments or lack access to care due to cost, stigma or provider access. Their impact, however, relies on patient engagement. A recently published systematic literature review explored how participant adherence and engagement were measured in 94 studies, their reported levels, and the potential link to efficacy. Key Takeaways: 🖥 Types of digital health interventions included 47 unique web-based interventions, 15 mobile apps, 5 hybrid web-based/app-based interventions and 1 CD-ROM. 📚 Adherence was generally measured by module completion rates. Only 44.2% of participants completed all modules on average, however, the average "dose" received was 60.7% of the available modules. 📱 Engagement was most commonly measured by the number of modules completed, the mean of which was 6.4 modules (means ranged from 1.0 to 19.7). ⏰ The average engagement time was 3.9 hours (means ranged from 0.7 to 8.4). 🧠 Most studies of the web-based (76%) and app-based (89%) interventions found that the intervention group had substantially greater improvement for at least one outcome than the control group. ✨ Of the 14 studies that explored the relationship between engagement and efficacy, 64% found that increased engagement was significantly linked to improved outcomes. The Joint Commission released 4 new req’s for Behavioral Health & Human Service orgs treating OUD. Thank you to Theresa M Drass for sharing this with me as part of expanding my understanding of OUD. Key elements of performance: (1. Orgs must offer MAT for OUD (MOUD) to patients with OUD as part of their agreed-upon treatment plan (2. If MOUD is provided via referral, the org must coordinate care and confirm the initiation and continuation of the medication (3. At the start of MOUD the org must inform individuals about the risks of abruptly discounting treatment, especially if they leave the org (4. Staff involved in assessing, planning and delivering services to individuals with OUD must demonstrate an understanding of evidence-based treatment, which includes MOUD, psychosocial therapies, and harm-reduction strategies. https://lnkd.in/dcxPfeXX
