10 May 2024 — I just spent an incredible 1.5 days with Amdocs at its APAC Industry Summit in Singapore. I have been tracking this company for well over 15 years, and it is amazing to see how it has continued to gain new expertise and customers over the years. It has successfully integrated numerous acquisitions to complement and enhance its products and services portfolio. I observe a number of market differentiators for Amdocs: · It is committed to delivering business outcomes for its communications service provider (CSP) customers. One might even call it an obsession! · It is prepared to commit to its customers’ business KPIs (in other words, to have “skins in the game”). · It has its own systems integration capabilities. · It has a long track-record and extensive experience in telecommunications. During the event, one of Amdocs’ customers in APAC candidly shared that it has confidence and trust in Amdocs to deliver on its promises. The customer views Amdocs as a trusted partner in a long-term relationship, and I could clearly discern the mutual respect and trust between vendor and customer. To me, trust is a very critical element in any successful business relationship. Many of us tend to under-estimate/under-play the importance of “openness to communicate issues/problems, and to solve them together”, but in my opinion this is a very critical pillar. A shared journey between vendor and customer can be bumpy at times, but trust and openness enable issues to be resolved quickly and effectively. The Amdocs event showcased many AI features being developed for and incorporated into Amdocs’ solutions. Strategic partners augment Amdocs’ own internal capabilities to develop best-in-class solutions. Amdocs continues to invest a lot of effort and resources in AI and one can certainly expect more advancements to come! Amdocs has well thought-out approaches/processes to address CSPs’ transformation projects regardless of the CSPs’ internal limitations or the stage of their respective transformation journeys. The company also focuses on evolving and enhancing its approaches/processes in a continuous learning manner. In my opinion, Amdocs managed to demonstrate its credentials as a leader in the OSS/BSS solutions space during this event. No CSP should omit Amdocs from its shortlist of partners for OSS/BSS transformation projects.
