In a guest column, Greg Dozier, Commissioner of the Technical College System of Georgia, and Debra Lam, founding executive director of The Partnership, discuss workforce development opportunities for early-career professionals. Georgia's job market demands experience, leaving young professionals just starting their careers in a tough spot. Experiential learning, like internships and apprenticeships, can help, but unpaid opportunities actually worsen inequality. Fortunately, the Partnership for Inclusive Innovation is changing this. Their fellowship and summer internship programs offer compensation and real-world experiences, fostering skills and impactful projects. Georgia's focus on public-private partnerships aims to unlock the potential of all young innovators for the state's continuous growth and prosperity. National FFA is searching for 2024 convention interns From an article in AGDAILY by Heidi Crnkovic Article excerpts: “This year, the National FFA Organization is seeking college students or recent college graduates to assist as multimedia journalists and newsroom journalist interns for the National FFA Convention, which runs from Oct 23 to 26, 2024 in Indianapolis.” “Just take the internships — as many as you can, in as many areas as you can. You can’t afford to miss out on the connections, experiences, insights, and opportunities that an intern provides. Even if they’re not paid, the value of experience and relationships you’ll gain exceeds anything monetary remuneration can offer. “ Whenever we discuss the future of agriculture, groups such as the National FFA Organization are at the center of the conversation. FFA members learn about the agriculture industry with the support of leaders, educators, industry professionals, and more while preparing for future careers. So, it makes sense that when we discuss opportunities, internships with this organization come up. Meanwhile, the National FFA Convention is the jewel of the FFA year. Held in Indianapolis each fall, the convention is known for flooding the city with a sea of tens of thousands of blue corduroy jackets. FFA members from all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands attend sessions at the Lucas Oil Stadium and other activities at the Indiana Convention Center.” Link to full article: https://lnkd.in/ekqDcmW9

I spoke with Peter Khalil and Milton Dick MP at the morning tea for interns participating in the Australian National Internships Program. This semester, I am writing an economic research paper on the housing crisis. Since Y2K, housing supply has not kept up with rising demand. House prices have gone up twice as fast as incomes. The 'bank of mum and dad' now defines the financial future of young Australians. My paper focuses on improving the planning system to increase the supply and density of housing in Australia's cities.
