This International Women’s Day, I wanted to do more than an obligatory post on the systemic inequities and biases that women experience in their personal and professional lives. And so, I have taken it upon myself to conduct research in the Return-to-Work space to shed light on the challenges faced by mothers in the workforce. Why mothers, you ask? Because mothers represent a significant portion of the female workforce and yet the current working environment is still not conducive to their needs. Bearing in mind that the average mum is likely mid-career, experienced talent who are strapped for time and flexibility, are having to resort to taking extended career breaks and risk burnout from doing it all. I know, I'm a time-restricted mamma myself and am hoping that with your support, we can shed light on the challenges faced by so many. If you’re a female professional who can relate, I encourage you to take the Beyond Careers Return-to-Work Survey, UAE and GCC 2024 and share your thoughts and opinions on this important topic. As this is a first of hopefully more to come, please note that this survey is non-exhaustive, and I am open to your advice and feedback (with kindness of course) Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress ✨

#iwd2024 #internationalwomensday2024 #inspireinclusion #beinclusive Today is International Women’s Day. It’s not only a day to celebrate women, it’s also a time to take action and reflect on what we and our networks can do to contribute to the inclusion and equality of women and girls around the world. If action is taken to advance the inclusion of women, $12 trillion could be added to global GDP by 2030. Empowering women is not just a moral imperative, it is a societal responsibility. It starts with addressing the biases and stereotypes that limit their potential. To make a meaningful impact, we need to look at the foundation of our systems and societal norms. Here are some ways we can do that: - Encourage girls to pursue STEM from an early age - Implement inclusive policies in the workplace - Create economic policies that prioritize women - Support women's sports teams - Advocate for women's health - Challenge traditional gender roles and stereotypes - Hire more women in tech to prevent bias in AI - Offer parental leave for all genders - Critically examine the portrayal of women in media and popular culture - Include men in caretaking roles (Around the world women do three times as much unpaid care work as men). By taking these steps, we can create a more equitable world for women and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential. Together, we can make a difference and create a more equitable world.

Gender expert, Advocate for gender equality and sexual reproductive health and rights, and a feminist.
This is always a special month for me. #iwd2024. Celebrating women and embracing their contributions towards development. But most importantly, it is a month when as a nation, a community, and individuals, we look back and reflect on our journey in empowering women. Are we there yet? What have we achieved so far? What can we do to accelerate women empowerment holistically. It is exhilarating to see women owned businesses, young women taking up spaces in leadership and governance, women exercising their power of persuasion to advocate for their needs and negotiate agency. It is a tremendous achievement, truly. I however can't stop wondering if economic and financial empowerment for women is hurting more than it is freeing women. I see exhausted women having to juggle many responsibilities. Between child bearing and rearing, taking care of a family, and running a business, most women can barely enjoy the fruits of economic empowerment. The societal burden on a woman to provide for her family while ensuring she does not abscond her other gender roles is a triple burden to women. Women's traditional gender roles make it 10 times harder to freely immerse themselves into economic and money generating activities. As we strive to accelerate women's economic empowerment, let us focus on policies that acknowledge women's lived experiences. Empowerment should make lives and experiences better without piling on to what is already there. #womenempowerment #holisticapproach #internationalwomensday2024

On this International Women’s Day, we unite in appreciation for women around the world. The theme #InspireInclusion echoes across continents, urging us to recognize the harmony between professional success and personal fulfillment that women strive daily. Women everywhere are breaking the mold and proving that professional prowess does not prevent personal happiness. They are CEOs and mothers, scientists and caregivers, artists and activists - each role played with equal passion and dedication. Yet, the journey to balance is not without its challenges. Women often navigate complex landscapes of societal expectations, workplace dynamics, and personal aspirations. It’s a delicate dance, one that requires support, understanding, and respect from all corners of society. This #InternationalWomensDay, let us: 👩🦰Support: Create a workplace that value flexibility, offer parental leave, and foster an environment where women can thrive professionally without sacrificing their personal lives. 👩🦰Recognize: Celebrate the multifaceted roles women play and the diverse paths they take to achieve their goals. 👩🦰Inspire: Share stories of women who have found balance of career and home, encouraging others to find their own. Let’s honor women's contributions and inspire future generations to pursue their dreams without limits. 🌟🌟🌟 Happy International Women's Day! #DEI #IWD #IWD2024

Today most businesses around the world (8th March) will step forward and voice their thoughts, opinions and policies on equality, diversity and inclusion. Women emancipation will occur in the true sense when tomorrow it isn’t just BAU (Business as usual) again and all those lofty ideas, equal promises and empowerment narratives don’t vanish into thin air! To have the ignited minds and hearts to bring these conversations to the table is a great start indeed but what we need more now is seeing those conversations take life form and help women bring their whole selves to work on a daily basis. Nothing more, nothing less. We should provide an ecosystem to women to be their authentic selves as an employee, colleague, partner, mother and most importantly as an individual. By we I mean- women giving that compassionate and helping hand to other women to thrive, men stepping forward with their enhanced emotional quotient to let women shine and everybody else creating a world of support, right intent and acknowledgement. Let 8th March be the day when we all agree to be in this journey together, with women and for women. Happy International Women’s Day 2024. #iwd2024 #inspireinclusion #womenempowerment
