Whatever your politics, the appointment of the first ever female Chancellor of the Exchequer is a really significant (and long overdue) moment. And especially inspiring for all the women working in HM Treasury Proud to have been part of it!
Imagine you and the HMT team will ensure she is briefed, supported and you can execute Gov policy effectively in double quick time. Assisting a new Minister, in a new Gov that hasn’t experienced Gov in a long time, is quite a challenge for the civil service but one I have no hesitation in saying they will rise to.
I agree Ms Russell. I lobby into Parliament for Lloyd’s Bank Victoms Group. While the previous HMG failed to tackle institutional theft & false accounting within Lloyd’s Bank Plc , I trust that the comments from the new Chancellor & the PM are not just “ window”. I do know that the Chancellor is reluctant to tackle the issue of Sir Robin Budenburg so our team will be forthcoming with criminal evidence that we hold about him and which also resides with the Securities & Exchange Commission. It was delivered to them by Mr Anthony Stansfeld, the retired PCC for Thames Valley.
Love this, wish I had been there to see it.
Another milestone for young women and girls - and hopefully inspiring talent from every corner and background in the UK to come into politics and to public service. Well done Beth - thanks for sharing this fabulous moment.
What do you care more about, her gender or her plan to rebuild the economy? Which of the two should be more worthy of headline news?
Beth and Rachel both part of the Oxford/Cambridge mafia that have ruled us for centuries. The US judiciary looks diverse from a gender and ethnic perspective but looked at through the educational lens they are the products of Harvard and Yale. Its diversity of mindset and opinion we need; without that, where is the challenge and innovation.
Unless the Treasury returns control of Monetary Policy from the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England, any Government will have limited control over policy..particularly over establishing an optimal combination of {Interest Rates, Inflation Rate, Exchange Rate} to maximise GDP per Capita.
Beth, you have also been inspirational and women supporting women is the best look ever. Thank you and what fantastic pictures of this historic event.

4dIt’s hard to believe in this day and age that we are actually celebrating that fact eh? I’m looking forward to a time when gender becomes so irrelevant that it doesn’t get a mention. Wonder will that ever happen?
