Google Gemini App is available in India in 9 languages. This is one of the big launches in the tech world about Gemini's brilliant app launch in India and several other countries. This strategic rollout offers valuable lessons for app founders on timing launches perfectly. Why did Gemini's launch happen now? Why not earlier like they did in other countries? Because if Google wants its app to be successful in India it needs to make sure to install some features such as: 1️⃣ Meeting Regional Needs - By supporting Indian languages from day one, Gemini ensured its app was accessible and relatable to millions across the subcontinent. Launching with a localized experience was crucial. 2️⃣ Multi-Platform Availability - The app rolled out on both Android and iOS simultaneously, letting users on any smartphone easily discover and download it. 3️⃣ Integrated Experiences - Gemini didn't just launch a standalone app. It integrated experiences like file uploads, data analysis, and in-app conversation capabilities from the start. 4️⃣ Celebrity CEO Promotion - Having Google CEO Sundar Pichai himself promote the launch on social media amplified visibility and credibility immensely. So when is the best time for founders to launch an app? 📍Start by understanding your core user's needs, preferences, and platforms 📍Build an experience tailored to those needs from day one 📍Integrate your app with relevant services/platforms people use 📍Get influential voices to generate buzz around your launch With a thoughtful, user-centric approach like Gemini's, you'll be primed to make a big splash when you release your app to the world. What strategies did you find effective for your app launch? Picture credit: Internet #google #gemini #AI

PhonePe launches Indus Appstore Fintech company PhonePe has launched its app store Indus. Walmart-owned PhonePe's app store can compete with Google Play Store with Indian environment and localization. PhonePe's Indus App Store can be installed on all Android mobiles. This app store will allow Indian mobile users to download over 2 lakh mobile apps and games across 45 categories. Mobile users will be able to search these apps in 12 Indian languages, meeting the language preferences of 95% of Indians. Currently, many mobile companies provide their in-built app stores, but most users only use Google Play Store. The app store of a mobile company is only for the mobiles of that company. At the same time, PhonePe's Indus App Store is available to every Android phone user, this will end the monopoly of Google Play Store. To encourage developers, Indus Appstore will not charge any app listing fees for one year till April 1, 2025. It will also allow them to use any third-party payment gateway of their choice without any additional charges. Google is also having a legal battle with some companies regarding fees on the App Store.

Give Back to Gurugram | Geek | Investor | Earth Hero | Let’s connect & change the business world for the better
PhonePe’s Indus Appstore aims to provide an alternative to the Google Play Store for Android users in India. Let’s explore how it differs from the Play Store: - Launch Pad for New App Developers: Indus App Store has a dedicated section called “Launch Pad” to improve the visibility of new apps. It helps new developers by enhancing app discoverability and optimizing search results. Google Play Store lacks such a specific area for new apps. - Zero Listing Fees: Indus Appstore charges zero listing fees to developers, at least until April 1, 2025. This is in contrast to Google, which charges commissions ranging from 11% to 26% based on revenue generated by the developer. The absence of listing fees encourages more developers to publish their apps on Indus. - Third-Party Payment Gateways: Indus App store allows developers to choose any third-party payment gateway for in-app billing. This flexibility simplifies integration and benefits both developers and users. Google Play Store also introduced third-party billing, but some Indian startups find it cumbersome due to additional paperwork. - Zero Commission on In-App Purchases: Indus App store doesn’t charge any commission on in-app purchases, regardless of the payment gateway used. Developers keep the full sales amount. Google Play Store, on the other hand, still applies its standard commission model. - Platform Localization: Indus Appstore prioritizes localization by supporting 12 regional languages. It aims to cater to a wide Android user base in India. Google Play Store, while comprehensive, lacks the same level of localization and inclusivity. While the Indus App store is not yet a full-blown alternative to the Google Play Store, it offers a more localized, developer-friendly, and commission-free experience for Indian users and developers. It's good to know that PhonePe is building solutions even if a large competitor like Google exists. Sameer Nigam PhonePe #linkedin #linkedinnews #phonepe #google #businesscasestudy #businessstory
