Talent Specialist @ Nucor | Social Recruiting, Talent Strategy and Operations | Hiring Civil/Structural Engineers and Professional Roles| Jobseeker Support Services
"Every day we get to make one another's lives better- that's pretty cool, isn't it??" So when I talk about culture at Nucor, just know that it runs so much deeper than "teamwork". ✅️ Making sure we all get to go home to what we love, safely. ✅️ Doing our jobs with integrity, because we know that we each play a huge part in the performance of the company which in turn impacts our own pockets. ✅️ Going above and beyond, never thinking "that's not my job" because we know we are better together. ^^ and this isn't only seen in production. It's not only entry or mid- level. When I tell you that our CEO would PROUDLY and ENTHUSIASTICALLY jump in and get his hands dirty- nobody is too good for anything here and you can FEEL IT. So maybe you've never considered a career in steel manufacturing before. I mean, not many have 🤣 But if you value a living, breathing, tangible culture and an unmatched opportunity, perhaps you could consider a career in the steel industry now. I happen to know a place 😉 nucor.com/careers

🌟 Know Your Worth, but Don't Forget Your Why 🌟 I recently came across an interesting Instagram post by a NRL player, who is currently going through contract negotiations. The post simply said, "know your worth." As a mother of a 7-year-old aspiring football player, I couldn't help but reflect on the importance of understanding our value beyond just financial compensation. While I fully believe in the concept of knowing your worth, I also believe that we should never lose sight of our "why." Why do we do what we do, and why should anyone care? As Simon Sinek is my favorite thought leader, often emphasises, understanding our purpose and the impact we strive to create is crucial. Sometimes, it's beneficial to pause and reflect on why we are so passionate about a particular field or career. Remembering our initial motivation can reignite our drive and enthusiasm. It reminds us that success isn't solely measured by monetary rewards, but by the positive impact we have on others. Yes, it is important to be rewarded for our skills and the value we bring. However, what truly matters is how we make others feel. People may not remember the exact amount we were paid, but they will always remember the way we made them feel, the positive experiences we created, and the difference we made in their lives. So, let's continue to know our worth and negotiate for fair compensation, but let's also remember our "why." Let's focus on making a lasting impact, leaving a positive legacy, and creating meaningful connections. After all, that's what truly matters in the long run. #KnowYourWorth #KnowYourWhy #PassionAndPurpose #MakingADifference #PositiveImpact

I help to build and scale companies (Business Development Specialist | Growth Strategy and Execution l AI Enthusiast)
Before you accept a job offer, know that 70% of people accept a job without knowing the 'full picture'. It's a mistake many of us make. Reno Perry shares 9 crucial money factors to consider before saying yes to any job offer. The four I have always covered straight out of the gate are: 1️⃣ Total Compensation Package: Look beyond the base salary to understand bonuses, equity options, and other incentives. 2️⃣ Benefits Package: Evaluate health insurance, retirement contributions, Financial wellness and other perks. 3️⃣ Educational or Professional Development Benefits: See if they invest in your growth through L&D budgets 4️⃣ Revenue Growth and Performance: Look into their revenue goals for insights into job security and long-term prospects. Just because it's an employer's market doesn't mean you shouldn't do your homework

Independent Financial Advisor & Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute. Hamnett Wealth Management, Sheffield.
Everyone can now see that the SJP model was not in the clients best interest. I dont blame the SJP advisers, (many are excellent at their jobs and work well within their constraints), I blame the Management & corporate culture at SJP. They created a remuneration structure that was more interested in locking in clients for 5 years and boosting shareholder profits than doing what was best for the clients. ⏰ Time for change. A long time coming.
It’s clear now that Ali Hussain was right all along - and his dogged determination played a major role in holding SJP to account 👏 Of course not every SJP adviser failed to deliver services that clients had paid for - some that I’ve met are excellent financial planners. But something was wrong with the leadership and the culture at the heart of the business. Let’s hope this is the start of sweeping changes and improvements across the entire sector - and Ali can begin to focus on other things!
St James’s Place bullied and belittled me, but I was right all along

“Work when no one is looking.” This was one of the best advice I had ever received from a mentor many years ago. Many younger friends in the banking/wealth management industry ask me how fast they can get recognised for their achievements and efforts. The rewards that they are looking for are higher base pay, bonuses, awards and more power. When I share this quote to them, they were puzzled. Many were advised to showcase their work and highlight their accomplishments. It is good to do that. But before one can showcase their work, they need to get better at it. Consistent practice over time adds on to one’s ability and skill. When we become used to the task, we get better. How has consistent practice helped you? Video credit: mine. I was not good at exercising previously. Going in before 6am helped me get better. There were less people and I could focus on the movement.
