Road Safety is a priority for us at AB InBev, and I am excited to be a part of the partnership between the AB InBev Foundation, our local brewer The South African Breweries, and the nation’s municipalities and law enforcement. Together, they have set up ten brick-and-mortar and ten mobile alcohol evidence centers (AECs) across the country, allowing law enforcement officers to quickly and accurately test suspected drunk drivers.
Every AEC is outfitted with world-class technology and a staff of medical professionals who can properly collect admissible evidence. While this accomplishes an important goal of increasing prosecution rates for drunk drivers, the AECs - especially the mobile ones, which can be moved to the most critical areas as needed - also help raise awareness of the risks of drunk driving to reduce road traffic accidents.
This is just one of the many ways we at AB InBev are working to contribute to the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030 and make our roads a safer place worldwide. We will continue to build local and global partnerships to introduce evidence-based solutions to improve road safety.
Together, let’s keep working to make our world’s roads a safer place to build a #FutureWithMoreCheers.
Special thanks to our local SAB team for making this happen, especially Tom Achoki, Zoleka L., Nombulelo Skota, Aviwe Filita, Thato Mahuma, and BARBARA COPELOVICI!
