𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻, 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗛𝗼𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀 The summer associate season is here, and it’s always an exciting time. I’ve been able to see firsthand the excitement internal teams and partners have in welcoming these bright and eager minds. Fresh perspectives and energy are a great addition to any team! 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 Having spoken with several leading groups this week, it's become evident that across practices, junior associate hiring is picking up; a reversal of the slowdown we saw with Q1 and early Q2 hiring. Associates as junior as Class of 2023 are being considered as team additions to groups including Private Equity, Finance and Commercial Real Estate. Despite various challenges, the legal industry continues to show resilience, and there’s a general sense of optimism in the market. Contact me at cole.evarts@sonderconsultants.com to go over available opportunities and market intel. Yesterday, ALTR's very first employee (and, admittedly, close friend as seen here in the Florida Keys) clocked 10 years with the company (rather, the company that ultimately became ALTR) -- a hallmark achievement in my opinion. Thomas Daly started with the company during its infancy (our office was 600sq ft "Class C" office space, and that's maybe being generous) as an intern who "couldn't code his way out of a paper sack" -- and I used to sit with him and run these drills where we'd solve a problem together, get it working and then I would real quickly delete everything and erase the 'undo' history and say "ok now you know it's possible to solve, you do it." TJ would get SO mad but he ultimately stuck with it and in the following 10 years since those very early days, TJ has lead so many development efforts with so many other engineers, I can't help but to be exceptionally proud of him. TJ is just the first of many examples of the talent development that we like to foster at ALTR. When you come work in any one of our engineering, support or IT functions, regardless of experience level, my expectation (and the culture which is continued by my immediate team of leaders) is that you're going to grow both personally and professionally. The company has grown and will continue to grow around you, and stagnation will hold us back. If you find the find this success story intriguing and you'd like to join a team that's going to force you to grow, be the very best you can be, and reward you for it -- check out https://altr.com/careers -- you can see our open spots and read about the founder-written corporate values that are truly representative of how we run the company.

“Full Stack” Tech-for-Good CMO. Follow for opinions about marketing, GTM alignment, and managing teams.
What are your green and red flags when hiring? I'll list a few to start. Green Flags: 🟢 Candidates who take pride in their work and show a sense of ownership in their decisions. 🟢 Learners who stay updated on new trends and tech. 🟢 History of finding and adopting new strategies or tools. 🟢 Specialists who have a holistic understanding of where their role fits into the larger strategy. Red Flags: 🚩 Candidates who blame external factors for their lack of success. 🚩 Talk of opinions/concepts without the experience showing they can do the work. Not that you should never hire someone to do something for the first time — you should just be clear on what's an opinion they read/something they know from time learning vs time doing. Be especially cautious with overly confident candidates; always dig deeper to assess their actual knowledge and experience. What are yours?

Careers are no longer a ladder. They are a web of experiences. They intertwine at the places where you operate at your best. Casting a net of wide career experiences can set you up for a never-boring career and open you up to roles you would have never considered before. This is not our parents’ workforce. We face different challenges and companies are valuing skills over years of experience (which is good for those of you collecting skills). If you are in a time of transition in your career, think about what skills you bring to the table and be open and creative to how you can use that in a new-to-you experience. #recruiting #layoffs2023 #careergrowth #career #corporateladder https://lnkd.in/gsGVgjRm

Square peg, round hole. If you don't feel like you fit, find a company that embodies your values. Company culture is important, and you deserve a place where you can be yourself. At our offsite in October, lots of people brought their water bottles. Only one of them belonged to me. It generated a lot of conversation. Many people wanted one just like it. But there is only one ME, just like there is only one YOU. Did I mention we're #hiring ? 😁 In what ways do you bring a little personality to your work?
