#DiscoverERTMSwhichTheUnsungHeroofRailwaySafety-7 #ERTMSModes-1 (SB) In the previous post, I shared ERTMS Operating Modes Table. We will talk about Standby Mode today. This mode means, there is no failure for ETCS Onboard and ETCS Onboard is ready for start of mission. If your mode is Standby Mode, you select shutting Mode-SH, Non Leading Mode-NL or start of mission. When you turn on the Onboard System, this operating mode is indicated on DMI screen. The signaling system permits limited Locomotive Operation, this limited distance is 2 meters. If a driver tries to move a locomotive more than 2 meters, the system will apply Emergency Brake (EB). In addition to turn on the system when you canceled Shutting Mode-SH and Nonleading Mode-NL or exit to recoverable failure, System is selected Standby Mode, automatically. #DiscoverERTMSwhichTheUnsungHeroofRailwaySafety-11 #ERTMSModes-5 (LS) Our journey into the realm of #ERTMS continues. We talked about SB,SH,SR and FS modes on previous posts. Today, we will talk about #LimetedSupervisionMode. Heed the LS modes enigmatic call and embark on this thrilling adventure! #LimetedSupervisionMode-LS cannot be selected by Driver which is a sub-set of ERTMS Level 1 that offers a lower level of automation compared to other Level 1 modes. So, this mode is not applicable for L2 and L3. LS Mode can be used as a temporary solution on lines where not all #ERTMS infrastructure components are in place. Trackside signals must be checked by driver on the this mode and the driver is responsible for manually controlling the train's speed and braking. However the ERTMS system can automatically stop the train if the driver exceeds the speed limit or fails to obey a signal. The ERTMS system provides the driver with information on speed limits, movement authorities, and trackside conditions. If you know more about this subject, you have a question or want to share your experience with us, please don’t forget to write a comment.

And that wraps up the IES/IRSE Railway Innovation Seminar with a Technical Visit to the Integrated Train Testing Centre (now called the Singapore Rail Testing Centre) and Kim Chuan Depot featuring the L2 Sky Lounge, CCL OCC, the new CBTC Simulation Facility (with PV01 T903 on the mock Depot MFT) and a walkaround the B2 Yard area where PV 06 was undergoing overhaul. Considering how I've worn a C851E on myself throughout, I was delighted to see the new C851E for myself (sorry no pics, LTA rule and I respect that in all things SSQ) but it's not just about the trains y'know. I was also honoured to have seen some familiar faces like Khing Tat Lim from Hikvision, and a face I only "talked to" online, Azizah Sapari who encouraged me to explore beyond #StationOps into Control, Maintenance and more! Had to endure hearing some questions to which the answers are pretty obvious from some trainspotter but I would say even unofficially, I represented CCL Station Ops pretty well, politely correcting the event organiser that CCL is Orange, not Yellow 😂 I also helped 2 fellow participants navigate home as the event concluded at CMPS, with one asking me how to get to BTW, and one who I accompanied back to CSER as he was going to take the NEL. With and also despite that, I'm now 2 weeks away from scaling back my heavy involvement in CSER Station Ops, certainly with a heavy heart as I explore other sectors which I might be able to progress further in, with the same energy I've spent over the last decade pouring out into the land and public transport industry... Passion doesn't die though. Acknowledging my talent and acquired experience, expertise and knowledge in Station Ops, I will still come back to help during special events as well as if the dreaded 4 letter word R.I.M.P. happens to... happen. If anyone drops by CSER tonight, I'm CSERving until the very last train :-)

Off today for a master class in GSMR for ERTMS. We hear so much about ETCS from the signalling view point and seem to forget the importance the mobile element is to it actually working. It’s the whole system that needs built and considered. After this lesson, I’m after a volunteer to teach me the signalling element of it all? #SystemsThinking #Telecoms #Signalling #DigitalRailway

To date, over 11,000 cab units have been fitted to trains in Britain, as well as being successfully deployed in other countries including Denmark, Australia, Ireland, and Norway; providing reliable, secure track-to-track voice comms’ across the network. This means, that over 11,000 trains in the UK have the potential to deliver even more value, with the on-board connected asset. In a similar manner to other modern electronic equipment, by developing ‘apps’ to run on the cab radio processor, affordable new functionality and improved operations efficiency can be provided in a number of ways, including Train Borne Condition Monitoring, Connected Driver Advisory System, and the Cab Radio Management Terminal. And with the cab radio now effectively becoming a mobile communications gateway, there is a huge amount of possibility for future app capabilities. Read more about when a cab radio is not just a cab radio, in this month’s Rail Engineer: https://lnkd.in/ecREFwcK

#DiscoverERTMSwhichTheUnsungHeroofRailwaySafety-10 #ERTMSModes-4 (FS) Our journey into the realm of ERTMS continues. Our topic is Full Supervision Mode today. #FullSupervisionMode is a critical mode that significantly enhances railway safety, efficiency, and punctuality. Because this mode is the highest level of train supervision by the #ERTMS. The ERTMS system has continuous monitoring and control over the train's movement within this mode. FS mode ensures that trains are protected against risks by automatically applying speed restrictions also FS mode allows for more trains to operate on the same track, improving network efficiency. FS mode provide below features. · Constant Speed Supervision · Distance Supervision: · Movement Authority: · Automatic Train Stop (ATS) This mode cannot be selected by drivers. #ETCS system active this mode automatically, when balise antenna read main signal balise group on level1. This mode can be used in L1, L2 and L3. If you know more about this subject, you have a question or want to share your experience with us, please don’t forget to write a comment.

This is a great video! It provides a “deep dive” on real-world deployment of new mP130 SATCOM terminals and the stand-up of #o3bmpower services. The mP130 is manufactured by #Intellian and designed for our new O3b mPOWER satellite constellation in Medium Earth Orbit (MEO). The mP130 employs a 125 cm reflector dual parabolic antenna with 3 axis stabilization platform and is designed to support land fixed user requirements. We also have a similar dual-band KU/KA terminal for maritime. This video is focused on commercial deployment. I like it because it showcases: [1] Ease of deployment for O3b mPOWER terminals; [2] Rapid transition from today’s O3b MEO services over to the second-generation O3b mPOWER MEO constellation, and [3] Ability to deliver unique high-throughput/low-latency/resilient capabilities anywhere in the world #ses #enterprisemobility #enterpriseconnectivity #lowlatency https://lnkd.in/eGpzBR-G
