2023 Thought of the Day #84: Reading a few articles this morning as it relates to Prime Big Deal Days, and not too surprised to see this past event certainly highlighted consumers even more after value, with AOV declining according to Numerator. But one of the more interesting nuggets I saw was comparing the deals of this event to others and how Amazon users are not exactly trending in the right direction. The idea of "Prime Day fatigue" feels like it could be very real, sooner than we might think. Yes, these events will still hold strong volume numbers. However, if consumers start to feel the deals presented on these event days are nothing special, numbers will start to fall off. It is going to be interesting to keep a pulse on this in the years to come. Marvel has been king in the superhero space for ages, but a string of lackluster projects has that giant showing decline. If Prime subscriptions pricing continue to increase and deals are nothing special on big deal days, Amazon could be next.
