Intel, VMWare, Linux Foundation & Others Form Open Platform for Enterprise AI: The Open Platform for Enterprise AI (OPEA) is a collaborative initiative within the LF AI & Data Foundation, aimed at promoting the adoption of open generative AI technologies and fostering interoperability among various vendors. OPEA has developed a framework for composable building blocks for generative AI systems and assessment criteria for evaluating their performance and readiness for enterprise use. Intel is contributing technical frameworks and infrastructure capacity to support the deployment of generative AI. OPEA places a particular emphasis on retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to enable generative AI to leverage real-world data repositories effectively. Organizations can participate in OPEA by contributing on GitHub or contacting the initiative directly.

The The Linux Foundation, in collaboration with organizations like Cloudera and Intel Corporation, has initiated the Open Platform for Enterprise AI (OPEA) to develop open and modular generative AI systems for enterprise applications. OPEA will focus on standardizing components, evaluating performance, features, trustworthiness, and enabling interoperability among AI tools, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) models, which leverage external information for better responses or tasks. While OPEA members have vested interests in building enterprise generative AI tools, the challenge lies in ensuring collaboration to avoid vendor lock-in and offer customers diverse AI solutions. To help accelerate GenAI end-to-end solutions adoption and business value in enterprises, I’m excited to share the news about the Open Platform for Enterprise AI (OPEA). Driven by ecosystem collaborators within the Linux Foundation AI & Data, OPEA enables the construction and evaluation of open, multi-provider, robust, and composable GenAI approaches that harness the best innovation across the ecosystem.   With the recent development of multiple technologies for GenAI, there’s an outstanding opportunity to accelerate a systematic and effective approach for different models and tools to play well together. OPEA provides a set of GenAI model and system component building blocks to construct GenAI solutions, including retrieval augmentation. The framework also offers a variety of validated, ready for deployment end-to-end reference flows.   To ensure GenAI pipelines are leveraging the latest technologies for deployment in enterprise settings, OPEA provides an evaluation framework that assesses, grades, and certifies GenAI solutions that meet criteria for performance, features, trustworthiness, and enterprise readiness.   Want to learn more? And just at the launch of #Llama3 and Databricks #DBRX, a bold move to make it natural from ground up in computing. "OPEA’s other endeavors are a bit up in the air at the moment. But Haddad floated the potential of open model development along the lines of Meta’s expanding Llama family and Databricks’ DBRX. Toward that end, in the #OPEA repo, Intel has already contributed reference implementations for a generative-AI-powered chatbot, document summarizer and code generator optimized for its Xeon 6 and Gaudi 2 hardware." This is a great overview of IBM's top announcements made at Think in Boston, all aligned to our core missions of helping enterprise clients thrive in Hybrid Cloud and delivering GenAI for Business. https://lnkd.in/ekqZcaEa Leading the way is our announcement of IBM Concert - a GenAI tool for IT Operations, which will GA with use cases focused on cybersecurity risk management but is expected to expand to other IT/Dev Ops UC's (Observability, Resource Management, FinOps, Incident Management etc etc). Exciting stuff! As previously posted, the decision to opensource IBM Granite models is there, plus expanded partnerships with AWS, Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta, Adobe, Mistral AI, & Salesforce. Not to forget new AI assistants for Java and Z, as well a better way to build your own with watsonx orchestrate!
