I've been in bed every night at 9pm and lots of my WhatsApp messages have been left on read but I've just completed my first week at GetYourGuide. Moving to Germany and going back to full time work has been a big shock to the system. But there have been some small gestures from GetYourGuide that have made a big difference to how I've settled in: 1. Yorkshire Tea. The one thing I knew I'd miss from back home is actually at the office and in every kitchen. 2. The kindness of colleagues. Katharina Fösel bought me a chocolate croissant on Day 3 and left it on my desk. Small gesture = big difference. 3. Clear onboarding document. Paloma Salmeron Planells claimed she had one of the best onboarding docs and she was right. It has given me clear direction in the early days. 4. Exercise classes on site. I'll figure out my Urban Sports Club membership soon but in the meantime they have free exercise classes in the office. I find that movement is key for me so having it onsite is a big help. 5. Fresh fruit and decent drinks selection. It sounds trivial but during that first week I've often needed a little pick me up and a Fritz Kola (IYKYK) has been just the tonic. These things may sound small but when you're dealing with the challenges of a new job, they make all of the difference.
My rule is to always have (and give) a little treat a day :) Be it a croissant, a hug or just some encouraging or nice words. I hope you enjoy your well deserved weekend!
I miss the Fritz Kola!
Sounds like it was the perfect move. Have a fabulous weekend!
Love this!! Sylwia Gulik
Sounds like you have found a great new home! Good luck with the move 👍
Can’t claim credit for our awesome onboarding doc! Karina Assaf invented it and Rebecca Frepp updated it! 🥰

5dUpdate: It's so weird cause I actually wrote and scheduled this earlier in the week and then today I had the wildest day at work. In a good way. Which just really confirmed that I'm 100% in the right place.
