We have strengthened our relationship with Tenaska and entered into an agreement to ramp up development of gigawatt-scale green hydrogen projects in the U.S. As part of the agreement, Tenaska and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners’s Energy Transition Fund I (ETF I), the largest dedicated clean hydrogen fund globally, will develop greenfield gigawatt-scale green hydrogen projects to serve local and global demand for green hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, sustainable aviation fuel and other clean fuels. Partner at CIP and co-head of the ETF I, Søren Toftgaard said: “Green hydrogen and Power-to-X will be key to take the next big leap within decarbonization, and CI ETF I, as managed by CIP, is uniquely positioned to invest in this segment. Stronger, more integrated grids including storage are a key building block of the energy transition. There will be no transition without stronger transmission. From the perspective of an integrated IPP like Cubico Sustainable Investments, BESS is a great complement to the technologies allready in our portfolio (PV, onshore wind, CSP and transmission). BESS will allow us to offer firmer power (when hybridizing with solar and wind) and provide a hedge to merchant and curtailment risk. As grids get increasingly congested, particularly in Southern Europe, the BESS regulatory framework will evolve. Cubico is already active in BESS in a few markets, including several hundred MWs in development already in Italy through our JV with Storaltil.
