The right way to do it.

In conversational leadership, sometimes the most significant skill is speaking less and, when you do, choosing the moment of maximum impact using the most effective instrument. The right words at the right time create memorable moments that add magic to the overall performance. The young man in this video is my eldest son, Richard Campbell. He is a multi-talented musician who can conduct and direct musical productions or play various brass and keyboard instruments. Since moving to the #UK, he has developed a reputation for being a versatile addition to any team because he understands the big picture and is willing to contribute where needed. It is not always the soloist or the superstar who is the most impactful player on your team. It is the one who makes the greatest contribution to the whole. As a leader, I have learned many of the most important leadership lessons from my children. This video got me thinking that every conversation is a musical masterpiece. My role as a strategic facilitator on stage, at work or online is often that of the conductor or simply the director, who is only sometimes seen but ensures that the music does its work. I see myself not as the star but rather as the star maker. What gives me the greatest joy is to see not just this conversation but every conversation after that makes moments of impact that transform your lives, our culture and our strategies for future success. How do you start your day? 1. Have a good breakfast. Something that will keep you going for a good while, because you don’t want to be distracted by hunger in a couple of hours, but not too heavy because you don’t want to feel sleepy either. If time is precious prepare something the night before. 2. Coffee, of course. Proper coffee that is, not instant, and pick a good organic brand.
