Normally I'm a lot more active on LinkedIn, but let's just say it was an amazing summer!
📢🌍: In June, I spoke on a panel at the Climeworks #DirectAirCapture Summit and traveled Switzerland talking carbon removal with the U.S. Speaker Program, which was an amazing opportunity before getting to travel to Belgium for the Negative Emissions Platform summit where US-EU policy around carbon management was discussed.
🌳🚣🏾♀️: Following that I attended my first in-person National Wildlife Federation annual meeting at the beautiful South Lake Tahoe where I got to hang out with my colleagues IRL (and do some kayaking 😎).
✍🏾 💬: And rounding July out, I had the privilege to co-lead a brand new 2-week Carbon Dioxide Removal Justice Fellowship with Simon Nicholson and the folks at American University's #InstituteOfCarbonRemovalLawAndPolicy where fellows from across the country traveled between DC, New York, and Wyoming to do the hard work of discussing where emerging technologies like #CDR might fit into the bigger picture of environmental justice and social change. It was such a rewarding experience, and I learned so much from our fellows.
👩🏾🏫 🤝: Come August, I kicked off presenting for the Direct Air Capture Coalition on intersections between environmental justice and the DAC industry, specifically talking about considerations developers and industry leaders should have as they broach the space.
✈👷🏾♀️: And the month wrapped up with a visit alongside other policy folks to #CarbonEngineeringLtd's Innovation Center in Squamish BC, where I got to ask questions until my heart's content (while rocking the hard hat and hi-vis vest). Hard to believe, but I started following their work back in grad school, so it was truly a full circle moment for me.
Maybe my favorite part (I'm biased) was getting our brand new team members Carbon Management Coordinator Sarah Kallgren and CDR Justice Fellow Jake Ferrell! 🤠
#NWF is entering the fall with renewed vigor as we do our best to answer the hard questions about the intersections between carbon management, people, and wildlife. If you're new to our org's work and our vision for the space or even if you're a longtime fan, consider starting with Jake's first blog post in a series on his experience as our first CDR Justice fellow!
PGCC and our partners at Philadelphia Energy Authority and the City of Philadelphia's Energy Office are thrilled to be part of this amazing group of finalists!
