Beenish Zia’s Post

What a weekend! Won silver medals in kata as well as kumite/sparring at the National Karate Tournament hosted by the JKA-WF (Japan Karate Association- World Federation). Winning 2nd place in the women's 18+ category and losing only to a young lady who is part of the US National team , was incredible, exciting, educational and exhausting experience. Karate is a huge part of who I am and I have trained for countless hours to get where I am. But as a working mother, juggling work, raising kids and training regularly has not been easy. When I had my second kid last summer, I couldn't have imagined this would be possible, but the medals are a testament of the hard work, grit and relentlessness. And I post this not to boast my achievements but to inspire all other women out there, you got this, whatever your passion outside work is, go for it ! Let's make it happen! Sky is the limit and let nothing stop you from becoming your best in whatever you do. Of course, none of this would be possible without a supporting family especially my biggest cheerleader Farshid Taghizadeh, MD. My teacher Nagatomo Sensei, my dojo members at NMKA , Suto Gyuszi who inspired me to get in to karate and John Gierach who helped me become a strong karateka and to many other friends and supporters :) You all believed in me and invested your time and energy in me, this win celebrates all of that! ❤️ 🥋
