When do you mobilize the first rib?  I see clinicians jumping to this all the time without really knowing when it's indicated or how to test for it.  Just because it's a bit stiff doesn't mean you NEED to mobilize it though. Is it contributing to their pain as well? You can find stiffness that isn't contributing and that doesn't mean you need to address it.  You can unravel all kinds of findings that are irrelevant for the patient's symptoms.  Are mobilizing the first rib? So many times we hear stories about providers performing releases without first having a functional assessment and without proper aftercare instructions.
