from a wholesale standpoint, the Wine & Spirits NY market hits different. it is a door-to-door, one-account-at-a-time, one-licensee-after-the-next type of fight. the absence of chain retail shapes up the way a wholesaler has to do business. it often presents a challenge to larger companies coming the the market with the business model that made their success in the rest of the country. RNDC's President captures it well: "Working in New York is different from your standard national account call or the grocery chains that serve a great percentage of the overall volume. Prior to the poem, American ideas about St. Nicholas and other Christmastide visitors varied considerably. The poem has influenced ideas about St. Nicholas and Santa Claus beyond the United States to the rest of the Anglosphere and the world.
