I am convinced that when we listen, our customers will show us the way. Here is evidence of that. One hospital system is using conversational AI to listen to the voices of their patients and caregivers. A recent analysis of their contact center data revealed: 💡 Prescription inquiries are a top call driver for the nurse triage team. 💡 Five key sources of friction related to prescription interactions. 💡 How technology was actually being used to manage prescriptions (as opposed to how it was intended to be used). A cross-functional team was assembled to solve for the key friction points related to prescriptions. Within two months, the hospital system was rewarded with these outcomes. ⬆ 34% increase in prescription refill line utilizations. ⬇ Nurses handling less prescription inquiries. Now, that is improving access to care. #NothingReplacesListening #ConversationalAI #HealthCare #Hospitals #AccessToCare

Following the mantra, "Save the best of last" - you've ended your post with the most important line: "Only advanced technologies, especially AI, could help fill in this math gap." AI is not going to replace jobs in healthcare. It's going to replace the jobs we can't fill. I'll go further in saying that those clinicians and administrators who work with AI systems developers to facilitate the introduction of #MedicalAI into the healthcare workflow will actually come out ahead. I would be remiss, however, if I don't point out another solution to this math equation - We can solve this problem by becoming a healthier society. (And, who knows, this might help address clinician burnout in a way also...) Eat well, get moderate exercise, enough sleep, reduce stress, fresh air daily, spend time with family & friends - you know, the basics - and the long-term need for healthcare across populations will go down. Just needs to be mentioned, we can all make our own choices.
Healthcare has a math problem. We will never be able to train as many medical professionals we need, while the number of patients requiring medical help will keep on rising. Not because we are getting sicker, but because we are getting better at diagnosing and caring for them. So this finding by the American Medical Association doesn't come as a surprise. "Between 2021 and 2022, when asked about the likelihood of leaving their current organization within two years, 40% of physicians said they had moderate interest in leaving, that they were likely to do so, or that they would definitely do so." Only advanced technologies, especially AI, could help fill in this math gap.
40% of doctors eye exits. What can organizations do to keep them?

I’m hoping we can get into discussions around the role of #governments in this critical evolving space of #AI in healthcare at the event Australasian Institute of Digital Health (AIDH) There have been a number of seriously concerning recent events in some states indicating that #health departments simply do not have a rounded view of this very complex issue … are knee jerking to “ban” type positions … are conflating potential risk and it’s management with actually realised risk… and are refusing to even allow research in the space to better understand the pros and cons. Given the ongoing daily pressures in our healthcare systems … a “hands on ears” (even hands on hips would be better) approach by some health departments that bypasses expert advisory bodies is basically trying to pretend that #AI is not happening … !!!! This is essentially negligent IMHO.
