From one of the opening slides for my presentation at the 8th Manufacturing Excellence Conference in Singapore this month, I asked the delegates about business maturity. The questions I posed are critical because they reflect the foundational elements necessary for a business to move forward effectively. Understanding the most important asset highlights strategic priorities. Knowing who manages key processes like TMP outputs, S&OP, Master Data, and BOM ensures operational efficiency. The presence of a CI function signifies a commitment to continuous improvement. Defined processes and their regular review maintain quality and relevance. Lastly, awareness of lead time elements indicates a focus on operational speed and agility. Without clarity on these aspects, implementing AI or any advanced technology may not yield optimal results due to gaps in foundational readiness. Is your business ready for the transition to the next generation?
