Interesting Ford Motor Company revives the Capri nameplate. Maybe a little creativity Ford? It does look very similar to the Polestar 2 from GEELY, but they are not related. Another interesting overview presented by Visual Capitalist. Presenting the rankings of car brands based on the percentage of owners inclined to repurchase from the same brand, as per data sourced from Consumer Reports' annual auto survey, encompassing feedback from over 330,000 vehicle owners. Notably, Rivian has outpaced Tesla in this aspect. While Tesla held the top position in the previous year's ranking, Rivian has overtaken it for the year 2024. Rivian has distinguished itself by focusing on outdoor adventure-oriented models, and despite encountering several recalls and financial challenges, it seems to have garnered strong loyalty from its initial customers. Conversely, INFINITI Motor Company finds itself at the bottom of the list. The luxury division of Nissan faces poor brand loyalty ratings, with only 43% of owners expressing intent to consider the brand for their next vehicle purchase. Do you agree with this ranking? Volkswagen Group's CUPRA brand is coming to America! Will be very interesting to see their distribution strategy. For those not familiar with Cupra, it became a standalone brand when it was spun off from VW Group's mass market SEAT,SA brand in 2018. Cupra, with a lineup of hatchbacks and crossovers, is performance-focused and targets what it calls "young, progressive customers." VERY COOL product indeed. Agency model in North America? "Cupra will utilize a new distribution model in the U.S., Griffiths said, without going into more detail." Lets hope so :) Remember, Volkswagen Group is also launching its historical Scout Motors Inc. brand later this decade. What is going on here? I think that VW is worried about Chinese brands (and Tesla) taking the market. They are way ahead of German competition, who can’t beat their cheaper prices of pretty decent products. So, they invest in Cupra since it is an upmarket brand and maybe, just maybe, people are willing to buy a more expensive Cupra over some cheaper BYD. They probably wouldn’t if it were Seat.
