With the continual advancement of #hydrogen-based energy solutions, there are still challenges that the global clean hydrogen sector faces. This article written by Renewables Now Ltd outlines a few justifications for its sometimes lagging development. 👨🔬⚡ "Among the reasons for the slow pace," the piece reads, "is the lack of a stable regulatory framework and a clear definition of what green hydrogen is, as well as slow permitting and financing uncertainty." Get a larger sense of the many reasons by reading more!

The Government has made a number of positive announcements for the hydrogen sector today, including three key areas: announcing the results of the first hydrogen allocation round; issuing a consultation on hydrogen to power business models; and issuing a strategic decision on blending into the distribution network. Importantly, the Government has also issued a paper on Planning Barriers and Potential Solutions. This is a key issue in the deployment of the sector, and we will provide further updates on this. #cmsplanning #cmslaw #hydrogen #energy #lowcarbon #cleanenergy #planninglaw #infrastructure

Providing energy market insights to identify investment opportunities in the energy transition and shape policy and regulation.
Some sensible suggestions in this report. Which is what you'd expect when it's backed by LCP Delta analysis 😉 https://lnkd.in/ee_frtsv "Through modelling conducted with LCP Delta, the report determines that electrolysing the UK’s wasted renewable energy could create enough hydrogen to displace two-thirds of the 700,000 tonnes of the UK’s current, carbon-intensive grey hydrogen consumption annually;" Linking constraints on wind generation to hydrogen production, and ensuring some industrial demand as offtaker is sensible when thinking about the size of potential curtailment in the 2030s. #hydrogeneconomy #energy

Researchers found out that the cheapest way to reach a net-zero system in Europe includes a power grid expansion and a hydrogen network. Meanwhile, Lhyfe signs a PPA for its hydrogen facility in Bretagne, and Nortegas reaches 15% of hydrogen in replica of its distribution network in Spain. #renewableenergy #solarenergy #sustainability

Myth: "most green H2 producers [for industrial offtake] will need to have back-up power from either a battery (a huge addition to capex) or the grid". In our client work we find that any large scale hydrogen project that relies on a grid connection will see a big increase in costs per kg. If you use the connection to supply energy when there is not enough coming from your renewables, you'll pay a hefty premium. Having a grid connection isn't bad per se though as it can be revenue-generating. #greenhydrogen https://lnkd.in/gqmXj7rC

Today is a big day for the UK hydrogen industry: The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has announced eleven new major hydrogen projects that will create over 700 jobs across the UK backed by £2 billion in government funding over the next 15 years. As Energy Security Secretary Claire Coutinho said: “Today’s announcement represents the largest number of commercial scale green hydrogen production projects announced at once anywhere in Europe.” Dharmesh Jadavji, Head of Hydrogen Business Model Allocation at DESNZ will speak about some of these projects at the forthcoming Globuc’s Go Hydrogen Summit on the 21-22 February. #hydrogenindustry #hydrogen #uk #investing #investments #cleanenergy Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dezj9eQZ

We know #hydrogen has a role to play in the net zero energy system to support flexibility, but there are likely to be barriers to deployment at the scale needed to deliver this. Colleagues from Energy Systems Catapult have been speaking to industry, government and academia to look at what those barriers are. Read more here https://lnkd.in/eiTWqbak The Hydrogen Innovation Initiative is looking at ways we can overcome those barriers to support a hydrogen economy, starting with the creation of our Hydrogen Technology Strategy which we'll publish early next year. #energy #power #netzero #decarbonisation
