🎃 Fall / Halloween-themed Ice Breakers 🍂🥮 These landed really well in our Toastmasters International meeting last night during Table Topics so I wanted to share. 1. While Halloween is a holiday that happens once a year and is celebrated by dressing up as someone else— if you had to switch places with someone for an entire year, who would it be and why? 2. When it comes to Halloween candies, we all have our different tastes. What is something—candy or not—that you personally like that most people don’t? 3. Halloween is considered the “scary holiday” of the year. Share a time when you felt scared to do something but you did it anyway. 4. As it is fall and nature is showing us that it is good to let things go, what is something you’re currently letting go of? 5. A common concept for Halloween is masks and disguises. In our own every day lives, there’s a “masked” version of ourselves we show the world. But what’s something you wish people knew about the unmasked version of you? cc Toastmasters District 119 Lisa Tamara Emily NEERJA

Helping court reporters and businesses protect their reputations with polished, proofed text. | trainedeyeproofreading.com | Transcript and Business Proofreading
Surnames: Plurals and Possessives If Mr. and Mrs. Jones invited you over for Thanksgiving dinner, would you be going to the Jones' house, Jones's house, or Joneses' house? And if Mr. and Mrs. Smith were also coming and bringing their homemade pies, would you be looking forward to eating the Smith's pies or Smiths' pies? ✅ Step 1. Determine whether you're referring to one person (singular) or multiple (plural). We know Mr. and Mrs. Jones are two people, as are Mr. and Mrs. Smith. ✅ Step 2. Create the correct plural form. —If a surname ends in an "s" (or "z" or "x" or a "sh" sound), add "es" to form the plural. One Jones, two Joneses —Otherwise, add "s" to form the plural. One Smith, two Smiths ✅ Step 3. Create the possessive form by adding an apostrophe: Joneses' Smiths' Thus, you would be joining the Smiths and the Joneses for Thanksgiving dinner so that you could dine on the Joneses' main course, your side dishes, and the Smiths' pies. #proofreadingtips #grammartips #stenographer #courtreporting #courtreporter
