Messy workstations are underrated. I love clean setups just like anybody else, but you gotta agree that messy setups have their own charm. Especially right after a project. To me, a messy workstation symbolizes the completion of a goal. And when you struggle with motivation like I do, it can be of great help. When I started out, I was working with cheap recycled tools trying to build robots out of scrap plastic and broken toy parts. And it almost always used to get messy. I had wires and bits of electric tape spread all across the room, and my table was scarred with burns from my soldering iron. We all start somewhere, right? Nowadays, I'm a lot more experienced with my tools, but I always love looking at my table right after wrapping up a project. It reminds me of how far I've come and how much I've accomplished. Ultra-Low Power Cellular design with Nordic Semiconductor's #nRF9161 and #nPM1300 Battery-powered devices typically spend most of their operational time in a low-power state, waking up intermittently to perform specific functions before returning to sleep. The battery life of these devices is influenced by three key aspects of the microcontroller's operation: -Run/Active Mode: This mode consumes the most power as the device actively performs tasks such as fetching sensor data, communicating with the Cloud, and running algorithms. -Standby/Idle Mode: In this state, the device performs minimal operations, such as running an idle thread or executing a while loop, and consumes moderate power. -Deep Sleep Mode: This is the most power-efficient state, where the system minimizes power usage by shutting down non-essential functions. For example, the Stratus Pro achieves deep sleep by turning off the UART. The Stratus Pro exemplifies ultra-low power consumption through strategic hardware and firmware optimization. Initially, we set the nRF9161 modem to low-power mode and then disable the UART. This process allows the entire device, including the nRF91 microcontroller and the nPM1300 power management unit, to operate on less than 9 µA. This level of efficiency is a direct result of meticulous design and optimization efforts.
