Hello HRs and Recruiters, As we are discussing mental health and awareness this month, I wanted to give my two cents to it. We all have experienced unpredictable situations, a high volume of open requisitions, conflicting priorities, delays, and disappointments. To stay positive, I would suggest networking with others in the same profession and committing to learning to understand the trends and prevent you from being blindsided to help you maintain your positive attitude. Long hours do not bring success but maintaining a positive attitude with your Hiring Managers and Candidates. Always keep your focus on the following: - Personal health - Career - Financial - Spiritual - Philanthropic Hope you take some time to think of the above goals and any others that are important for you to stay positive. Keep it clean, keep it focused, and keep learning!! #hr #humanresource #Recruiters #positiveattitude #supporteachother

As a Recruiter I’ve always been passionate about candidate care but never have I felt more responsibility to show empathy and kindness to candidates. The last few years have been tricky for people in lots of different ways; the pandemic, furlough, long covid, mental health issues, redundancies due to economic conditions (I could go on) have all had a direct impact on people's careers. We are seeing increased movement through shorter-term roles on CV’s and gaps in employment as a direct result of these challenges, there’s a risk that good candidates are overlooked if we don't acknowledge this and take more time to just understand people a little more. If we need a ‘day’ to serve as a reminder to be kind, let World Mental Health Day serve as a prompt to just be a little more understanding and open when recruiting. 👉 Take the time to think about the person behind the CV 👉 Be more open in your thinking 👉 Don’t make assumptions, talk to candidates and understand their moves 👉 Just be more authentic and kind when dealing with people! With high volumes and heavy workloads, I get this can be challenging but on a perhaps selfish level it is so much more rewarding to champion these candidates and make a real difference to their lives. Perhaps we can all do our bit to understand the human-being behind the CV just that bit more!? 🤷♀️ #worldmentalhealthday #bekind #worldmentalhealthday2023

My recent MSc. Research Project investigated ‘reassurance-seeking’ as an interpersonal trait. Described by Abramowitz and Moore (2007) as a ‘safety seeking’ behaviour, my evidence-based research illustrated the subjectivity of extrinsic reassurance-seeking and the thin line between what is deemed normative or excessive. Bonnano and Burton (2013) lent credence to the idea that humans are social beings and drawn to interaction on the grounds of emotional homeostasis. This has made me consider the support #network garnered by #jobseekers. Whilst #opentowork, jobseekers are fortunate enough through LinkedIn to connect with careers coaches, other jobseekers, #recruiters #hiring. This network is a vital lifeline for people whose physiological needs are potentially threatened. LinkedIn does not only offer jobseekers employment opportunities, it provides reassurance in multiple modalities. Abramowitz, J. S., & Moore, E. L. (2007). 🚨 Job Applicants Beware 🚨 I have noticed a major uptick in job applications asking for very personal information beyond the usual voluntary self identification questions. A few examples: ▫Do you Identify as an immigrant? ▫Are you a first generation college grad? ▫Do you look after or give support to family, friends or neighbors with physical or mental health problems? ▫Are you the first person in your immediate family to work in a corporate environment? These questions are too intrusive! Do these questions help the perspective employer learn if you are a good fit for the role? Absolutely not! Where do we draw the line? 🤔 #jobseeking #HiringProcess #JobSeekers #JobApplications #EmploymentEthics

I have a question for Mental Health recruiters. What are the top three qualities you look for in a job candidate? 1. Experience? 2. Credentials? 3. Licenses? 4. Company culture fit? 5. Personality? 6. Education? 7. How well their resume is written? 8. Treatment modality experience? 9. Transferable skills? 10. Personality? 11. __________________? I think folks looking for a job in mental health would greatly benefit from knowing your top three qualities you look for. This could help them know if they would be a good fit for you, and you would know if your company would be a good fit for them. We should talk about this more, don't you think? If healthcare recruiters would post about their top three qualities they are looking for in a job candidate, instead of just posting they are hiring, the probability of finding a quality candidate would be much higher. **Call to Action** 1.
