💡 👯♀️ New role & open to network: Innovation, transformation & thought leadership within corporate sustainability   While my new role is no longer 'breaking news', I've had the time to settle into the job. Now, this means I have the bandwidth to connect more widely with those of you who are working on fast-tracking corporate sustainable development in effective and viable ways.   Hence, I'm very curious to ideate, share knowledge and explore collaboration on challenges and opportunities I believe could accelerate the transition - such as, but not exclusively:   > Business model innovation & design: How to commercialise sustainability while increasing resource productivity   > Financial risk quantification: How to monetise the risk of unsustainable practices, to ensure corporate decision-making is evidence-based    > Planetary boundaries & decoupling: How can businesses set targets and operate within a finite world in a manner that is fair and just > Progressive advocacy: Companies cannot create system change on an individual basis, but there are good examples of companies driving the political agenda together (e.g circular economy). How might we leverage corporate influence? Our Development Manager, Laura Saaranluoma, discusses in the ELY Centre's article the steps Mirror Line has taken towards more responsible and efficient production. ♻ The biggest leap we have made is an investment in a new, more energy-efficient, and ergonomic board processing line, partially funded by the European Regional Development Fund. 👣 However, Laura also emphasizes the importance of everyday actions in sustainability work: "It’s easy to think that sustainability means huge projects and significant expenses, even though starting with small things is perfectly fine. It’s not worth comparing yourself to large publicly traded companies that have very ambitious goals, like carbon neutrality, and also the substantial resources to achieve these goals.
