Hello everyone, I want to share some of the challenges I've faced as an architecture student in reimagining my previous designs. Our designs are often influenced by the expectations and demands of professors and advisors. Sometimes, these expectations are entirely non-standard, and despite knowing they're flawed, we have to comply with them. For instance, I'm currently redesigning a museum in a highly challenging environment. The site has irregular geometry with no straight edges. During my class project, I had to ensure that the design seamlessly incorporated these irregular lines into the main building structure. When applying for jobs or academic positions on an international scale, unfortunately, the effort and adjustments often go unnoticed, leading to frequent rejections. These challenges highlight the importance of adhering to professional standards and learning how to present the best version of our work, even when we have to navigate unreasonable expectations.

Architecture is a five-year lengthy course and a breath of relief you get only when you give your final thesis viva. But mostly after this, we are in a dilemma, to choose what to do after graduation, JOB or MASTERS? It has been a long debate between the ones who do masters and those who opt for the job after graduation degree. Here are some guidelines that all students should consider before drawing any conclusions in order to better comprehend the perspectives of both parties and help you make an informed choice. 1. JOB - Choose job only when you are 100 percent sure about your interest in field work. If so, getting some experience in the industry would clear your head considerably. It is advised to work in the field for a year to gain insight into your interests, goals, and practical working abilities in a variety of fields before rushing into a master's program. 2. MASTER'S - You need to choose your field of interest + seeing the scope of it in the market. Search for the job potential and the market value of it after doing the master's degree. While more work experience can help you become prepared to launch your own business, a master's degree can offer specialized and in-depth knowledge in less-explored topics. It is important to research the global reach of your selected area in order to gain perspective on your future professional path. This includes investigating the prerequisites for the position, the career paths of notable figures in that field, acknowledging the university and the course, as well as the core courses taught and the format of the course. 3. REFINING YOUR SKILLS - Whilst doing your job/masters or even graduation, you can do online/offline courses on BIM, Architecture Journalism, Architecture Photography, Parametric Design, etc. Online education is a really good option. These quick, reasonably priced courses provide insightful information and useful knowledge related to your field of study. #architecture #archdaily #architect #architecturestudent #archilovers #architecturephotography #archviz #interiors #interiordesign #interior #design #designer #india What are you planning to do? https://lnkd.in/gHMyJ48G

Something interesting that I am seeing coming up alot in the architectural industry are companys wanting to employ people with Masters more than those with say a Degree only. It may not be wholly prevalent but I have noticed a trend. This gets me wondering if , in the future, there will be space for Technologists? or will it just be Architectural interns amongst a company full of Architects? I have been in a space where i was the only one who is NOT an Architect and what I CAN tell you from my experience is that you feel alone and at times unworthy even though it may be a healthy environment. This reflects on my own journey sometimes. Do I strive to better myself and become a specialist Technologist? or make my way to an Architect? I guess the more important question to ask myself at this stage would be , what would ACTUALLY change if I DID become a fully fledged Architect? Something to ponder about....
