Too common: A 30 min meeting with 10+ mins of intros. Badly planned, and a total waste of time! Do this instead: ⒈ Send an email with intros beforehand. ⒉ The event organizer introduces everyone at the start of the call. 2-3 min max. ----- A meeting that starts with 10+ mins of intros rarely ends well. It's an uphill battle from there to get everyone engaged. This is especially true for sales calls or investors pitches. If I'm on a sales call that starts like this, I just wonder how much of my time will be wasted by this company if I start working with them. I'm not alone in feeling this way. We already have meeting overload: Meetings have increased 3X since 2020, and we waste 24 billion hours a year on unproductive meetings. So, now we have to work EXTRA HARD to make meetings fun, engaging, interesting and efficient. Especially if we are trying to impress a prospect, service a customer or raise money. -----

Preach! 🙌
Huge fan of one person introducing their side on the call and saving the awkwardness of who goes next and wasting everyone's time. It helps the other side follow suit and make more meaningful use of the time in the meeting. Great post Asad.
All about finding efficiencies while still ensuring everyone has context!
Love this Asad!! Meetings are critical for success and transformation but have to be elevated to be more impactful and effective
I must be meeting with less interesting people.

1w100% agree on this. If people do need to intro themselves at the beginning the Host of the meeting can set the stage by making their intro super short (like 10-15 seconds max) so that people follow their lead. If you ask someone else to kick off and they do a 3 min intro... you are doomed.
