Both the JIYUE 01 (formerly known as the JIDU ROBO-01) from the 65:35 GEELY Baidu, Inc. joint venture and the 2024 XPENG G9 were launched or began pre-sale today. The common theme? They are hitting the market at prices much much, and I mean much, lower than expected. G9 for example launched a year ago at starting price of RMB309,900, nearly RMB50,000 more expensive. The JIYUE 01 on the other hand was expected at around the RMB300,000 price point. Not the first time, not the last time. This is typical of the cutthroat market competition that has played out since the beginning of the year in China in the form of a nasty price war. They are in effect a price cut on launch, and just two of many examples that have played out and will continue to play out well into 2024. In Chinese it’s called 卷 or involution. I’m just going to call it the “black hole” of NEV competition in China. You really don’t want to be a part of it but you get sucked into it and you become distorted literally and figuratively. The world has practically used Agile without even being aware. One can argue companies want the best out of their products but then to do that , we iterate . Iteration is the improvement of our product whereby we’re building on what we have already to better the experience with a new feature that can help the user /client or customer get the best out of a product.. We evolve daily as we conduct research to make life a better place to stay. By doing so we also Pratice Agile whereby a new product is release and in another cadence ( yearly, quarterly, monthly or whichever) that same product is released and has a better and new feature that increases the user experience of the user .That way, the company makes profit and the user gets a better experience which is a win win for that both parties involved if you ask me .
