Director Public Affairs EU at Axel Springer SE | Head of Brussels Office | Vice President of BVDW | Marshall Memorial Fellow
Goodbye 2023 – goodbye Axel Springer! On my own behalf. 😊 After more than ten years at Axel Springer, I have decided to open a new chapter. My two-year secondment as Head of Office in Brussels ends at the end of the year – a good opportunity to set off for new shores. Since 2010, I have been part of the digital transformation in Germany and abroad, from BILD & Welt to "Electronic Media" and most recently Public Affairs. The company has developed rapidly since then, so it never got boring. And I am very grateful for the numerous experiences and, in particular, the trust placed in me! To pick out just five examples: 🌟 Project Premium Content: My debut at Axel Springer in 2010. A Group-wide strategy project that is still a perennial issue today: How can you convince users to pay for something that was previously free? There was probably no better way to get to know the Group in a very short time. Andreas Wiele, Florian Klages, Christian Fuhrhop... #PremiumContent 🌟CDP: The commitment to an efficient #platformeconomy and improved data sharing within and outside the Group. Rarely have I learned so much about Germany and Europe as a digital location as I did during this time, both for the good and for what could be improved. Michael Wolter, Tom Halank, Michael Reiner, Carlos Bracho, Regina Hüf and many more. 🌟"BILD for all": The only "real analog" project I took part in as support and which I can still remember well. Every German household was supposed to receive a newspaper. It worked despite all the adversities – and most recipients (who hadn't objected) were happy too 😉 Ralf Hermanns 🌟 The acquisition of (then still) N24, now Welt TV: countless night shifts and at least as many pizzas with Christoph Falke in a dark office wing analyzing broadcasting schedules, reach and commercials. #mergersacquisitions 🌟 Last but not least: the joint fight for a fair #digitaleconomy, which has been with me for many years now and I am deeply convinced of its importance for society as a whole. From the DSA and DMA to the GWB, ePrivacy, the AI Act, the MedienStV and EMFA. Dr. Dietrich von Klaeden, Florian Nehm, Karolina Sznajder, Benedicta von Rauch, Franziska Fislage, Fabian Griewel, Damian Flisak, Daniela Rau-Kahnt and Angie Scheunemann and all other supporters, whether inside Axel Springer – such as Robert Blanck, Ansgar Schoenborn, Dr. Susanne Stollhoff, Albrecht von Sonntag, Christopher Reher, Julia Kühne, Sabine Schmidt… – or outside (way too many to list here). After such a long time in the Group, I have certainly forgotten many people who are important to me. I would therefore also like to thank my other colleagues and contacts for the great cooperation! It was always a lot of fun - let's stay in touch! Before I continue, I would like to dedicate some time to my family, which has been a bit neglected recently. And now enjoy the end of the year. With this in mind: „Einen guten Rutsch“ to everyone and to a happy 2024! 🚀🎈💫

Whether you’re a Marvel fan or not, you’re likely familiar with the concept of the Avengers...🦸 Similar to a diverse team of work colleagues, except they’re fighting supervillains instead of deadlines. Despite the impressive membership of the team, they often require external help, demonstrating that external input can be vital to solving challenges. Whether that’s deciding where to allocate funds or fighting space aliens. 👨💼💼 Does this mean some of the collaborators more temporarily affiliated with the Avengers – Spider-Man, Black Panther, Doctor Strange – be considered similar to seconded employees? And what benefits does secondment actually bring to a group or organisation? 🤔 Linus Dahlander, Professor of strategy and Lufthansa Group Chair in Innovation at ESMT Berlin, alongside researchers from Aarhus University, University of Warwick - Warwick Business School, and Università Bocconi, investigated the impact of seconded employees on the selection of novel ideas. 💭 Creativity and innovation are two of the most valuable assets for growth in business and society. However, despite the motivation to select new and innovative ideas, individuals and organisations often reject or overlook them. These ideas can be difficult to understand, risky, and challenging. However, the researchers found that seconded employees not only choose more novel ideas than permanent staff, but also influence permanent staff to do the same. Our digital team asked me to reflect on the past 12 months at Cultural Comms. Moments of reflection can be few and far between when you’re running a company. This was a great exercise and a reminder of just how far we’ve come. #connectingwithculture #business #entrepreneurship #agencygrowth
With the end of 2023 fast approaching, Cultural Comms co-founders Charlotte Heath-Bullock and Nina Plowman reflect on the year almost gone, and share their highs, lows and proudest moments from the past 12 months, as well as the lessons that will shape the agency’s - and the industry’s - path in 2024. In part one of the two-part series, Charlotte discusses the joys of running Cultural Communications Ltd - despite complex economic uncertainties; the strength of the CC leadership team and the role it plays in the company’s success; and why a visit to the Vermeer exhibition at the Rijksmuseum during TEFAF Maastricht is something she'll never forget (plus a look ahead to how she’ll be celebrating the end of a very busy year at Cultural Comms). Very happy with this years #TrendstoWatch! I think "Social Growing Pain" captures that odd in-between feeling of this time so well. Also curious to see which of our 5 Trends will be validated most by the coming months. Always enjoying the process of shaping those themes in super interesting sessions together with Ulrich Köhler, Tea Thaning, Kim Karina Haußer and Fiorella Frank ❤️ Download the full report here: https://lnkd.in/eT3yTWX5
💡 Here's a new term for you: "Social Growing Pain". Or another one: "Fakeification". These and a lot more can be found in Trendbüro's brand new #TrendstoWatch report, which we released today with an exclusive event. 🚀 Thanks to an incredible team around Sabine Rogg, Kim Karina Haußer, Tea Thaning and Fiorella Frank we came up with a list of next year's #consumertrends that will empower companies to navigate change with confidence. 🛤️ AVANTGARDE Group's CEO Dr. Marc Schumacher hosted the launch event, which also saw a cameo appearance by one of Germany's leaders in cultural marketing (and LinkedIn agnostic) Josip Radović. Expression, particularly through media and social media, plays a pivotal role in shaping societies and individuals. In essence, it serves as a powerful tool for communication, fostering diverse perspectives, and influencing public opinion. Media, encompassing traditional outlets like newspapers and television, as well as the rapidly evolving landscape of social media, contributes to the formation of a dynamic and interconnected global community. Firstly, expression through media serves as a cornerstone of democracy, providing citizens with the information needed to make informed decisions. A free and independent media acts as a watchdog, holding governments and institutions accountable, thereby ensuring transparency and promoting the well-being of society. The diversity of media outlets allows for the dissemination of various viewpoints, fostering a rich tapestry of ideas that can lead to a more informed and engaged citizenry. Social media, a transformative force in contemporary communication, amplifies individual voices and enables the instantaneous sharing of thoughts and opinions on a global scale. This democratization of expression empowers individuals who might otherwise be marginalized, providing a platform for underrepresented perspectives. Social media also facilitates real-time discussions, sparking social movements and raising awareness about critical issues. Moreover, expression through media and social media contributes to cultural exchange, breaking down geographical barriers and fostering a globalized understanding of the world. Through the sharing of art, music, and ideas, individuals can connect with diverse cultures, promoting tolerance and appreciation for differences. This interconnectedness has the potential to cultivate a more inclusive and harmonious global society. However, the importance of expression through media and social media is not without challenges. The spread of misinformation, echo chambers, and the potential for manipulation are concerns that need to be addressed. Media literacy and responsible use of social platforms become imperative to navigate this landscape effectively. In conclusion, expression through media and social media is crucial for the functioning of democratic societies, the empowerment of individuals, and the promotion of cultural exchange. It serves as a catalyst for positive change, encouraging dialogue, fostering understanding, and shaping the collective narrative of our interconnected world. As we navigate this digital age, it is essential to uphold the principles of free expression while actively addressing the challenges posed by evolving communication technologies.

Executive Strategic Director @ TERRITORY || AI x Human Intuition || Helping brands to navigate the Economy of Connections
Unleashing the Power of Culture in the Digital Landscape In the dynamic realm of modern business, where digital connectivity shapes new challenges and opportunities for brands, Peter Drucker's timeless wisdom resonates: "Culture eats strategy for breakfast." Indeed, culture has evolved into the very source code driving customer behavior. The empirical evidence is clear: cultural icons outperform their competitors. But, how can brands become cultural icons in a world of today? At TERRITORY, we champion a paradigm shift, advocating for brands to transcend traditional, centralized frameworks. In our fast-paced, interconnected world, the key lies in embracing the decentralized potential inherent in cultural tribes, brand communities, and user-generated content. Our recent keynote at #BMS #InnovationM in Berlin delved into this transformative approach. And, the resounding positivity from CMOs in attendance validated our belief that we are charting the right course. We are excited to share more insights with you in the weeks and months to come, unveiling our thought provoking cultural branding flywheel and its AI empowered cultural data backbone. Many thanks to Dirk Kemmerer and Oliver Reinke as well as their wonderful team Eduard Mesares, Martina Kaya, Pia-Sophie Schröter, Felicitas Herrmann for organizing this wonderful event, and Sandra Harzer-Kux, Till Heckel, Marcus Bilgeri and Patrick Holtkamp, my team and many others for making the impossible possible. #OneBMS #OneTeam #InnovationM

Managing Director @ TERRITORY | Integrated Marketing, Creative Strategy, Modern Leadership, Interim management. #edtech #founder #startup #advisor #creativemarketing
When Ralf Sieke started talking to me about the undeniable strong connection between cultural marketing and brands success, he did not expect to be ending up on stage in front of leading marketing experts a few month later :). But this shows the undeniable power of the subject and the huge relevance it has in today's marketing ecosystem. There is much more to come about this from Ralf and the team at TERRITORY. #excitingtimes #culturalmarketing #makecultureyourstrategy
