Inspiration, collaboration, and sense of belonging: three words that encapsulate last week’s Media & Tech Con at our Berlin headquarters. And three guiding principles to lead us towards the next transformation phase. With a record number of registrations of more than 1,000 colleagues from six countries, our biggest internal employee event was able to build on last year´s success. No wonder, as the program was packed: More than 80 sessions were offered by over 170 employees for their colleagues – a third of which centered on Generative AI. 38 units presented themselves and their projects. From keynotes and discussion rounds to workshops and lots of things to try out, the event created a space which ensured that knowledge about AI and other relevant topics does not sink into silos. This is exactly how we benefit from the variety of our diverse companies and people. Ever spoke at a conference on 45 minutes sleep? I crossed that one off the bucket list last week... and had a blast. I flew into Berlin for Axel Springer's Media + Tech Con on the red-eye with my 10-month old baby and wife by my side. As soon as I landed, I headed to the event to join 1,000 colleagues across the Axel Springer portfolio to talk tech trends, AI, and directions to the nearest coffee. A day of great meetings ended in recording a live podcast on a conference stage. With a near-fatal amount of espresso in my system. I covered two core topics in a conversation with Adib Ashraf Sisani, SVP of Communications, pictured here. 1. Benefits of the AI Ambassadors program: - An interdisciplinary group of executives across the Axel Springer portfolio. - We are selected by company leaders to speak to our AI strategies. - About every month we meet, share challenges, and network. - We rotate presenters — and we help each other overcome roadblocks. - The group accelerates our work in tangible ways every week. - Spearheaded by Niddal Salah-Eldin, President Talent & Culture - Expertly run by Oded Shoham, SVP GenAI Investments. 2. Promising early results from AI tests at EMARKETER: - We ran 5 AI tests in our first month of formal testing.
