RESTREAMING ON MY OWN ... My Biggest Take Away Again, thank you Tonia Tyler, The Coffee with T Podcast Founder and Host, for bringing your presence and expertise to our live stream on Wednesday evening. As I think about our time together, I am incredibly appreciative of the wise counsel you gave me and the rest of our listeners about what it takes to start doing Podcasts. You talked about getting over the fear - be it being on video, being visible, whatever, you first get to find your way around the fear. Next, team up with someone who is like minded. Third was to just do it. Later as we debriefed, we deepened those thoughts with these three "Tonia" insights: 1. No comparison of yourself to anyone else. Tonia and I laughed about having Oprah as the epitome of the online interviewer. Well, we concluded that was too much pressure. How about being ourselves, having fun, and learning along the way such that we get better each time? 2. Get comfortable with mistakes, like misspelling or miss pronouncing a name. It happens and when it does, be gracious, sincere, apologize, and fix it if you can. Develop the habit of a pre-go-live review and prep before the screen comes on. 3. Although I checked in with the Restream customer support team to be sure I knew how to use the tech; alas, I did not have mastery over it. So there was a scary moment where Tonia was not visible and not heard. My reminder is to stay calm and do a real run through in advance of the next event. In all of this, I understood what it means to say the show must go on. Tonia is unflappable and having her as my guest kept me from caving in and cancelling. Now my community has something new to anticipate - live streams from me. Being with Tonia today, I touched on each of her smart insights: I got over my fear, teamed up with a like minded person, then I just did it.
