ODVA recently ran a proof of concept experiment on EtherNet/IP and 5G between Ericsson, Qualcomm and Rockwell Automation. The test was successful and shows that a private 5G network can support default EtherNet/IP and CIP Safety RPI settings as a result of low latency and jitter. The supported RPI settings will allow for wireless industrial applications such as stationary (static, nomadic, rotating parts) skids, machines or equipment that use EtherNet/IP standard and safety I/O communications. Terahertz (THz) spectrum was identified at the World Radiocommunication Conference 2019 (WRC19) up to 450 GHz. This IEEE 802.15.3 publication is towards the implementation of THz communications for 6G.
I am glad to announce, that this week IEEE Std 802.15.3-2023 has been published, see https://lnkd.in/ewuNwJst. This is a revision of IEEE Std 802.15.3-2016 and incorportes amongst others the amendments IEEE Std 802.15.3d-2017 and IEEE Std 802.15.3e-2017 as well as channel plans for the spectrum identified at WRC19 up to 450 GHz.
