Here is one of the best examples of #crisiscommunication by an airline CEO I have ever seen: clear, factual, open, empathtic, reassuring. This not only assures the trust of the customers of Alaska Airlines, it is so well done, that it will strengthen the brand. One of only 27 Boeing 737-9 Max aircraft currently cleared for flight paid a visit to Heathrow airport today, as all versions fitted with door plugs remain grounded pending an FAA AD. This is one of four Max 9s operated by Icelandair, all of which have deactivated mid-cabin exit doors (MEDs) rather than plugs. This makes them exempt from the grounding order implemented after the Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 accident on 5 January. Other 737-9 operators with exempt fleets include SCAT, Flydubai, Lion Air, Corendon Dutch Airlines, and Air Tanzania. Additionally, eight of Copa’s 29 aircraft are unaffected as their MEDs are deactivated rather than plugged. Boeing 737-9s Offer Aisle, Windows, And Open (Door) Policy/Seating - IMRAN™ Note to self. Keep your seat belt on tight at all times. So glad there were no fatalities and no one fell out of the Alaska Airlines' Boeing 737-9 when this door blew off the aircraft in-flight. Trust in Boeing will and should surely crash based on the poor quality track record in recent years. If only there had been a warning… Oh, wait… Even more worrisome is the report that this aircraft’s pressurization warning light had gone off on three different flights. Yet it was still kept in service. Now all of this model plane are grounded for inspections. Airlines previously offered passengers a choice of aisle or window seats, or some have open seating policy. Our governments have also had a shameful open-door policy to illegal one-way permanent travelers into the United States. Now Boeing customer airlines can offer us a combination of these choices… “Window, aisle, or wide-open-door policy/seating?” © 2024 IMRAN™ #IMRAN #humor #IMHO #commentary #airlines #flight #flying #Boeing #AlaskaAirlines #NTSB #wordplay #immigration

United Airlines dropped its 10-K on Thursday, including its fleet plan as of December 31. We now know just how deep of a hole the decision to remove Boeing’s 737 Max 10 from its fleet plan is: United expected 80 Max 10s this year, none of which will be delivered. Nothing, yet, on what United will do to fill the gap but it’s unlikely with Airbus’ lengthy backlog and Boeing’s woes that it can fill much of that 80-aircraft hole this year. And that says nothing of next year. More background on the situation on The Air Current: https://lnkd.in/ec7HFU6w #airlines

Trust but verify with data. Published Author and Analyst, Aviation, Travel, Leisure Expert. Principal @ T2Impact, LLC
Transparency is often talked about in aviation - but seldom backed up with reality at the moment of truth IE when passengers interact with the airline. Here is however, a good PSA by Alaska. I note that there is no tension on Boeing. I would have probably said explicitly - "... Alaska is holding Boeing accountable... " See what you think. #alaskaairlines #boeing #737max #faa #accountability https://lnkd.in/gMB2hxmd
