🌈 As two leaders who are part of the LGBTQIIA+ community, celebrating Pride goes beyond just a party. It's about recognizing and addressing the varying levels of privilege within our community and understanding that the fight for rights is ongoing. It might have gotten better for some of us but not all of us. 🏳️🌈 ✨ Let's use our privilege to make a difference: -Engage in open conversations about gender identities, challenging harmful stereotypes and misconceptions. -Advocate for policies that protect the rights and well-being of all the individuals in our community. -Amplify the voices of those in our community who are experiencing heightened discrimination and support their issues. If you don’t know what those issues are - start there and learn more. -Show empathy and understanding, acknowledging that everyone's experience is unique. Let's stand together, embrace diversity, and create a more inclusive world. Acceptance needs to start from within our Community. Happy Pride, Calgary! 🌈❤️

🌍✨ On Sunday, December 10th, we mark a momentous milestone - the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Adopted in 1948, in the wake of World War II's profound devastation, this landmark document has been a cornerstone in our ongoing quest for global equality, freedom, and justice. 🕊️📜 The Declaration, with its powerful vision, has been instrumental in shaping laws and policies worldwide, upholding the dignity and rights of every individual. Its impact can be seen in significant human rights movements and landmark rulings, from the civil rights movement to women's suffrage, and in the ongoing fights for LGBTQIA+ rights and racial equality. As we celebrate this historic day, let’s commit to deepening our understanding of the universality and indivisibility of human rights. It’s crucial to engage and educate, especially the youth, inspiring a new generation to champion a world where everyone, regardless of who they are or where they come from, is treated with respect and dignity. Join us in this celebration 🎉, embrace the legacy of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and let's empower each other to stand up for rights and take action. Together, we can continue to build a movement that transcends boundaries and unites us in our shared humanity. 🤝💫 #HumanRightsDay #UDHR75 #EqualityForAll #StandUp4HumanRights 🌐🎗️

Reflections on presenting on a webinar on 25 years of improving people's lives So this week, Marie Pye, and I with terrific support from Nathan Salmon and Cara Low put on a webinar on how much has changed since 1998. I learnt so much from the process of putting it together - there have been massive changes, many of which we now take for granted: accessible buses, equal rights for LGBTQI plus people, much greater representation of under-represented groups in different professions and the arts. We do have much more to do but we should be thinking if things have changed so much since 1998, we can do more. Our research gave me a response to this is all 'woke' nonsense. No, it isn't, people working on equality issues have made real, tangible differences and have changed people's lives for the better. If you would like to see the recording of the webinar, subscribe to the EW Group's newsletter and ask for a copy. We would also be open for running the webinar at different events. ':Life is lived in the future, but we learn when we look back' Seneca. #diversityandinclusion

Top tips for championing inclusivity during Pride month...and beyond! 🌈 Be an ally, learn about LGBTQIA+ issues to enhance your understanding and support of the community. 🌈 Examine and challenge your own biases to cultivate a more inclusive mindset. 🌈 Confront discriminatory language or behaviours, promoting respect and acceptance. 🌈 Utilise inclusive language and pronouns to foster a welcoming atmosphere for everyone. 🌈 Listen to LGBTQIA+ experiences and concerns with empathy and without judgement. 🌈 Advocate for policies and practices that promote equality and protect against discrimination. LGBTQIA+ inclusion should take place 365 days of the year. This is why Lifetime Group has its Equity, Diversity and Inclusion strategy in place to make sure we’re always considering the rights and needs of the LGBTQIA+ community when decisions are being made, and to avoid any kind of ‘performative allyship’.

Marsha P. Johnson: 'No Pride for Some of Us Without Liberation for All of Us' 🏳️🌈 Marsha P. Johnson's powerful words serve as a reminder that true pride and progress come from lifting each other up, hand in hand. Inclusivity isn't just a buzzword; it's a commitment to a brighter future where every voice is heard and valued. As a coach, I wholeheartedly embrace this message. My workshops are meticulously designed to build bridges and foster understanding among diverse individuals. We delve deep into the unique experiences of neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ communities, promoting acceptance and celebration of every individual's identity. In our collective journey towards liberation and equality, no one should be left behind. It's not just about some of us; it's about all of us. Together, we can create a world where pride knows no bounds, where every person is free to express their authentic self, and where diversity is our greatest strength. Let's continue Marsha P. Johnson's legacy by working hand in hand to build a more inclusive and equitable society. Your voice matters, and together, we can ensure that no one is left behind in our pursuit of progress and liberation. 🌍🌈 #InclusivityMatters #PrideForAll

Instead of just whacking a rainbow logo on our socials for Pride Month, we’re working with queer-led LGBTIQA+ inclusion training organisation Queer Town to release a free guide on LGBTIQA+ inclusive marketing, advertising, and communications. And we need your help. We’re collecting feedback on how brands can better support LGBTIQA+ communities, and how you feel about current representations. This survey takes less than two minutes to complete, is completely anonymous, and will help support agencies, brands, and marketers create work that more accurately reflects the diversity in identities and experiences found in LGBTIQA+ communities. Because when you know better, you do better. Find the survey below. https://lnkd.in/gZdKukxn
