Decrypting the everchanging Crypto market can be a daunting task, but it's essential to keep up with the latest trends. In September 2023, Sophia Zaller, Adam Wickens, Ryan McRobert, and myself provided a Digital Asset market update, but since then, the market has changed tremendously. At that time, BTC was trading around $25k, and the regulatory future was uncertain at best. Now, it's trading at $52k with BTC ETF approval. On July 26, 2023, the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) launched a consultation by releasing two draft guidelines (collectively, the Draft Guidelines) on the regulatory capital treatment of crypto-asset exposures: one draft guideline for federally regulated deposit-taking institutions (DTIs), and another draft guideline for federally regulated insurance companies.
