Kubernetes 1.29: PodReadyToStartContainers Condition Moves to Beta With the recent release of Kubernetes 1.29, the PodReadyToStartContainers condition is available by default. The kubelet manages the value for that condition throughout a Pod's lifecycle, in the status field of a Pod Read mode on following blog post!

Kubernetes v1.30 has an interesting name 😊 I'm not kidding. It's called "uwubernetes". And I have no idea what's the inspiration behind it. Let's just wait for the official blog post to find out the reason 🤩 Meanwhile, in K8s v1.30, ContainerResource metrics autoscaling will become a stable feature. This feature allows the Horizontal Pod Autoscaler (HPA) to automatically scale based on individual container resource usage, rather than the combined resource usage of all containers in a pod. Let me know what you think. Update: The uwu in from the name "uwubernetes" represents "a emoticon uwu" and is often used to denote cuteness (kawaii), happiness, or tenderness. Just heard from Kat Cosgrove (Release lead for Kubernetes v1.30).

Today, I thought of shedding light on the journey of two pivotal projects in the container ecosystem: Docker and containerd. The inception of docker began when Solomon Hykes introduced Docker at PyCon, marking the genesis of a project that would soon become synonymous with container technology. Initially leveraging LXC (Linux Containers), Docker swiftly transitioned to its own runtime, libcontainer, in 2014, laying a solid foundation for the container movement. Then, there came containerd in 2015 sprouting from Docker's core. Containerd emerged with the aim to handle core container functionalities. It promised a simplified, yet robust runtime focused on image transfer/storage, container execution/supervision, and network primitives. But in a significant stride towards community-driven development, Docker donated containerd to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), providing it a neutral ground for growth. As Docker continued to be the friendly harbor for developers, containerd found its stronghold in production environments, especially within the Kubernetes clusters, showcasing the modular essence of container tooling. Over time, Docker embraced containerd as its default runtime, exemplifying a collaborative spirit that drives the open-source community forward. #Docker #containerd #OpenSource #CNCF #Kubernetes #TechHistory #CommunityDriven
