On September 6th, the Japan Association for World Expositions, the organizer of Expo 2025 Osaka, opened the first official store of Expo 2025 in Osaka. More than 150 countries and regions have announced their participation in the Osaka-Kansai Expo, which will be held on the artificial island of Yumeshima夢洲 in Osaka City for six months from April 2025. The number of visitors during the exhibition period is expected to be about 28 million from Japan and overseas. However, there are concerns that the construction of overseas pavilions is delayed at this point. In addition, there is a need to enhance more momentum to support the Japan nationwide Expo. #osakaexpositions #expo2025 #osaka-kansaiexpo #expo2025 #japanexpoosaka

I had the pleasure to attend Singapore MICE Forum 2023 “The Great Reset” organised by Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (SACEOS) this morning. It was wonderful meeting old friends from the event organiser industry and got introduced to new ones. Always learning new things; my takeaways from the forum: 1. Reset but not with a BAU mindset 2. Curate the show, pure promotion days are over 3. China , India and Africa are the markets in the radar. However, don’t just geo clone 4. #artificialintelligence is defining the industry on B2B increasingly 5. Growing need to acquire domain and vertical expertise within show organisers 6. Transparent is a key factor for partnership & collaborations Digesting these points and how it would work for a trade associations. :) Happy weekend!

📢ETOA is thrilled to announce its collaboration with the European Travel Commission on the promotion of Europe in China in 2024. This joint marketing initiative reflects the optimism both organisations have for the recovery of the Chinese outbound market into Europe. Tom Jenkins CEO of ETOA: “ETOA members are anticipating a recovery of nearly 50% of 2019 volumes by the end of 2023, and an acceleration of demand thereafter. Many are talking about seeing similar volumes to pre-pandemic by 2025-6. It is planning for this period that will form the basis of discussions at China European Marketplace.” “China has now extended visa-free visits to nationals of The Netherlands, Spain, Germany, France and Italy.
