Today marks a momentous occasion as we broke ground on our brand new final assembly facility!
The infrastructure expansion, which will be to the south of Austal USA’s current waterfront facility, will include a new assembly building, waterfront improvements, and a new shiplift system. The project is scheduled to be fully operational by summer of 2026.

I remember when the first hanger was built about 25 years ago. Mr. Bender invited me to the groundbreaking. Austal USA found a niche in the building of mid-size military vessels and continues to grow and innovate as the needs for fleet vessels change. Congratulations!

May 10th in History:
The final "Golden Spike" was hammered in to complete one of America's largest construction projects on May 10th, 1869! That was the day the transcontinental railroad was finished.
This feat helped created a "smaller" nation. Prior to the railroad it took as long as 6 months to cross the nation - after its completion it took only 4 days. The project, however, came at a high cost - not just monetarily either, but also in lives and land (including native lands) through eminent domain!
It is still considered one of the largest construction projects in American history with 1,868 miles of rail installed.
Construction practices, thankfully, have become MUCH safer today and more ethically conscience.

No amount of protection around the bridge pillars can work as these ships are way way too big, There should be tug boats hauling them in narrow lanes in and out of the ports into the open ocean. No ship propulsion should be relied upon. Why is it that hard? #shipping#cruiseships#cargoships
How easily available are your railroad ties?
In today’s VUCA world, supply chains are becoming a bigger concern for anyone looking to make change happen fast. How easily available are the railroad ties for my project? This was also the question that Network Rail asked in March 2022.
As a first project, we supplied FFU Ties for a bridge in Fort William, Scotland, using our stock in Germany with the aim to dramatically shorten lead times down to a matter of weeks.
8 pieces of FFU Longitudinal Bulk were taken from stock, adjusted to the required sized, milled, drilled, painted and marked in Germany and then shipped to the installation site in Scotland.
With uncertain supply chains, SEKISUI will continue to strive to bring you the best product in the shortest time possible.

🚚 Transporting Stone Through the Majestic Colorado Rockies: A Logistical Triumph 🏔️
Navigating the rugged terrain of the Colorado Rockies presents a unique set of challenges, especially when it comes to transporting heavy stone on a flatbed. At RTL Transports we pride ourselves on our ability to overcome these hurdles with precision and efficiency.
Our latest project involved delivering high-quality stone materials to a construction site nestled deep within the Rockies. This endeavor required meticulous planning, advanced logistics, and the expertise of our dedicated team. Here’s a glimpse into how we achieved this:
🔹 **Route Optimization**: Leveraging cutting-edge GPS technology and thorough route planning, we identified the safest and most efficient paths, avoiding potential pitfalls such as steep inclines and narrow passes.
🔹 **Load Securing**: Understanding the importance of safety, our team employed state-of-the-art securing techniques to ensure each stone was firmly anchored, preventing any shift during transit.
🔹 **Weather Adaptation**: The Rockies are known for their unpredictable weather. Our drivers and support staff were prepared to adapt to sudden changes, ensuring timely and safe delivery regardless of conditions.
This successful delivery not only highlights our logistical capabilities but also our commitment to excellence and safety. A big thank you to our incredible team who made this possible and to our clients for their continued trust in our services.
Here’s to tackling more challenging terrains and delivering excellence, one flatbed at a time! 🚛💼
