How many college students will graduate this summer? How many will end up with "miserable" BDR jobs ? Quite a few I guess. 4-8 weeks of fire-hose treatment ... and then .... Hit the emails and phones. SECURE MEETINGS ! Feels like the definition of insanity to me. And now for some Monty Python humor... (sorry grad's you were not born yet) "And now for something completely different" How about an 9 month internship - 1 month - the same company fire-hose as above. Learn about the company/product/etc. Weed out those who are not a fit. - 2 months in CX - fielding customer service questions - learn first hand how customers actually feel about the company and product. - 2 months in RevOps - learning about the systems, CRM and do a boat load of data hygiene and clean up, from leads to opp's to contracts, etc. - 2 months in Marketing - really learning about the ICP, the buyer's journey, campaigns, events, what the buyer really does care about. - and finally - 2 months in sales boot camp - shadowing (and providing admin support) to top sales people in the company - and yes setting up meetings - and learning from the best. AND .... guess what - they need to GRADUATE - pass all of these parameters to keep moving on. Now you have individuals who really understand your business. If they really do still want to be in sales, then ... give them a small quota and help them sell. Put them in a regional team, not all in one "newbie sales pen", where they can learn from other, more experienced sellers. All in Junior AE - with a real sales comp plan. Redefining on-boarding... THIS is what IBM did probably 40 plus years ago! (but class room style) Redefining ENABLEMENT TRAINING! Am I crazy? My bet is that paying these grad's for 1 year and getting "nothing" back is about the same as what we do for most BDR's anyway, except that this way, they are actually learning a lot more about the business to make them and the company successful, in years 2 and 3. So go on, write in the contact, that to be part of the program, they need to stay for a minimum of 2 years. You might also find some CX or Marketing or RevOPs stars who realize they are not really cut out for sales, but LOVE and EXCEL in these other disciplines. #BDR #sales #onboarding

I’m excited to share that I have completed an Externship through Paragon One. I took part in the Colton Alexander Asset Management & Deal Sourcing Remote Externship. I was able to learn about deal sourcing and provide deliverables to Colton Alexander. Throughout the process I was able to improve my skills and learn new skills including: 1. General Industry Research: I was able to improve my research skills when looking for possible investments for Colton Alexander. Additionally I was able to learn how to properly research a certain industry to be able to present my prospective companies, with the proper industry outlook, and how my companies fit the outlook of the industry I was assigned. 2. Intercompany analysis: Through this process I was able to understand how to create a deliverable to present my data found on my prospective companies. Additionally, I was able to learn how to properly create a valuation for a company that is not publicly traded. 3. Presentation Skills: Once I completed my research I was able to prepare a final presentation for Colton Alexander which helped sharpen my presentation building skills and my public speaking skills. I am thankful for the opportunity given to me by Paragon One and Colton Alexander to be able to gain insights on what working in the deal sourcing industry is like.

It's fascinating how organizations approach purchases differently depending on their needs. ✓Buying Models: Think of them as a hierarchy. Straight Repurchases: Routine orders from trusted vendors (office supplies anyone?). Modified Repurchases: Existing needs evolve (upgrading software with the same vendor).
