The successor to Russia’s Luch (Olymp) satellite – Luch (Olymp) 2 – is on the move toward multiple GEO spacecraft. Slingshot’s machine learning-based object profiling engine autonomously detected the anomalous behavior of the Russian satellite Luch (Olymp) 2 beginning with a large maneuver on September 26, 2023. The satellite initially began drifting westward at a rate of ~1°/day, before slowing its drift to ~.3°/day near ~3° East, where it appears it will visit another “neighborhood” of GEO spacecraft.
